We are seeking experienced Upholsterers with a specialization in the seating industry to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced proficiency in custom upholstery, working with a variety of materials and frame types, and will play a critical role in producing high-quality seating solutions. This full-time, on-site position requires both independent initiative and effective collaboration within a team of over 30 skilled upholsterers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Upholster seating products using a range of materials, including fabric, vinyl, and leather, ensuring durability and aesthetic excellence.
- Create and assemble upholstery samples according to design specifications and customer requirements.
- Prepare, fit, and cover frames, shells, and foam for both wood and metal seating structures.
- Execute advanced upholstery techniques such as piping, tufting, pleating, and skirting with precision and consistency.
- Identify discrepancies in materials or workmanship, perform rework on previous jobs as needed, and implement solutions to minimize material waste.
- Maintain an efficient workflow, meeting production deadlines while upholding stringent quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including production, design, and Upholstery Technical Support—to resolve technical challenges and achieve project goals.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in seating upholstery, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in fabric, vinyl, and leather applications.
- Advanced skills in custom upholstery, including complex patterning, cutting, and fitting.
- In-depth knowledge of frame construction, foam shaping, and the unique requirements of both wood and metal seating frames.
- Mastery of piping, tufting, pleating, skirting, and other advanced upholstery techniques.
- Ability to identify and address discrepancies, perform quality rework, and optimize material usage to reduce waste.
- Capability to work efficiently and autonomously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with technical support and cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site role in a manufacturing facility.
- Standard schedule: Monday through Friday.
