Pigeon Café is opening in the Old Port, and we're looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the culinary direction of a new restaurant from the ground up. We're looking for a creative, organized, and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional food and building a strong kitchen culture.

At Pigeon Café, we're dedicated to serving high-quality food in a welcoming atmosphere. We're looking for a Head Chef who shares our commitment to excellence, values teamwork, and takes pride in every dish that leaves the kitchen.

What You'll Do

Lead and oversee all day-to-day kitchen operations.
Ensure every dish meets our standards for presentation, flavour, and execution.
Hire, train, mentor, and motivate a high-performing kitchen team.
Create staff schedules and manage labour costs effectively.
Oversee inventory, ordering, food costing, and supplier relationships.
Maintain food cost targets while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
Ensure the kitchen operates in full compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment.
Collaborate with ownership on seasonal features, menu development, and special events.
Lead by example during service, providing guidance and support to the team while maintaining a calm, organized kitchen.

What We're Looking For

4+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, including leadership or Head Chef experience.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop a team.
Proven experience with menu development, food costing, inventory management, and labour planning.
Excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety standards.
The ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
A passion for hospitality, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
