What You Will Do:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Support and lead in executing on STEPS’ vision, mission, and values ensuring the successful operation of the clinic and service delivery within the four walls of the clinic.
- Provide clinical expertise and services as a registered nurse, including caring for patients to your full scope as defined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Work collaboratively as a trusted, codependent, integrated team player to ensure patients reach their best health outcomes.
- Oversee nursing students learning and integrating into STEPS delivery of community health care services and delivery.
Program Development and Services Delivery:
- Mobilize your project management and educational skills to lead and/or support the development and delivery of STEPS Preventative Health Program, utilizing a system-based approach and evidence-based guideline care.
- Oversee all aspects of the program, including design, implementation, training, and ongoing support for staff and providers.
- Ensure quality improvement for the Preventative Health Program by developing metrics, monitoring outcomes, and refining processes to achieve program goals.
- Serve as the primary communication lead for the Preventative Health Program, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and effective dissemination of information to all stakeholders.
Leadership:
- Contribute within your clinical scope to ensure clinic operations are running smoothly, efficiently, and effectively.
- Work with the Director of Operations to execute the strategic operational plan to achieve STEPS’ vision, mission, and values.
- Identify, assess, inform, and provide recommendations to the Director of Operations of internal or external issues that affect STEPS’ ability to deliver on its vision, mission, or values from a clinical perspective.
- Foster an operational environment that includes professionalism, compassion, inspiration for employees and patients, accuracy, trustworthiness, and support. This includes enabling an environment that produces positive longitudinal relationships between patients and the Most Responsible Physician/Nurse Practitioner (MRP) that results in best patient health outcomes.
- Model effective teamwork and desired behaviors between all team members including medical, clinical, social, administrative, learners, etc. team members.
Risk Management:
- Identify to the Society through your reporting lines risks to the STEPS Board of Directors, members, staff, contractors, services, property, finances, goodwill, and image, with recommendations to mitigate risks.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master of Science in Nursing with curriculum or educational experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing complemented by community nursing and educational delivery experience required.
- Current valid certification by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Knowledge of competency guidelines, standards, scope, and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Strong clinical and team experience, preferably in the non-profit or public sector.

- Excellent verbal and written communication, consultative and interpersonal skills, and proven ability to build lasting, positive, productive, collaborative relationships.
- Ability to work independently and within a team and effectively motivate and influence others.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet commitments and deadlines.
- Professional integrity and good judgment to effectively handle sensitive and confidential matters and solve problems or conflict.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and programs including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), Electronic Medical Records (Telus MedAccess), academic and day-to-day research, etc.
Working Conditions:
- The Registered Nurse is required to work in-clinic and could be deployed to multiple STEPS clinic locations.
- The schedule is somewhat flexible within the operating hours of the clinic’s operations.
- The Registered Nurse position requires schedule flexibility to attend early morning, evening, and occasional weekend meetings.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a car are required.
- A cell phone is required.
