Geotechnical Technologist

Position Summary

TREK Engineering Inc. is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Technologist to provide field and office support to our geotechnical team in Winnipeg. We are looking for an experienced geotechnical technician. The successful candidate will complete site investigations and exploration programs, provide construction support services, undertake topographic surveys, provide office support and assist with materials testing and quality control activities.

Qualifications
· Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related program.
· Preferably at least 5 year of experience in engineering consulting and the construction industry. Geotechnical experience will be considered an asset
· Registered or eligible for registration as a C.Tech. or C.E.T. in Manitoba.
· Strong communication, organizational skills with an attention to detail.
· Willingness to work overtime and travel outside Winnipeg regularly.
· Comfortable working on construction sites.
· AutoCAD, GeoStudio, and Civil 3D experience considered assets.
· Surveying experience considered an asset.
· Valid driver's licence required.
Key Responsibilities
· Complete subsurface investigations.
· Observe pile installations.
· Undertake resident contract administration for construction projects.
· Perform geotechnical instrumentation monitoring.
· Perform site surveys.
· Conduct materials testing and quality control inspections.
· Assist senior staff with geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting.
· Perform other engineering-related responsibilities as required.

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Winnipeg, MB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Education:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Experience:
- civil engineering: 5 years (preferred)
