Digital Dental Lab Technician – Implant Surgical Guide Designer
As one of the fastest-growing implant companies in the industry with significant year-over-year growth, Hiossen Implant Canada continues to expand.
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Digital Dental Lab Technician with experience in implant surgical guide design and digital dentistry to support our digital dental workflow, with a focus on implant surgical guide design and CAD/CAM applications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a solid understanding of implant dentistry, and a commitment to accuracy and quality while collaborating with dentists, implant planners, and laboratory teams.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design implant surgical guides based on the dentist’s prescription and approved prosthetically driven treatment plan, including tooth-, mucosa-, and bone-supported guides.
- Process and validate digital case data by importing, merging, and verifying CBCT/DICOM and intraoral scan/STL datasets, ensuring accurate alignment and identifying potential data or case-related issues.
- Review and optimize surgical guide designs by evaluating implant positioning, angulation, depth, restorative space, prosthetic positioning, guide support, seating, stability, surgical access, and overall manufacturability.
- Select and incorporate appropriate guided-surgery components, including drill sleeves, guide sleeves, fixation components, implant libraries, and other components based on the specified implant system and guided surgical kit.
- Perform design verification and quality control, including verification of sleeve positioning, drilling access, clearance, implant depth, guide stability, and other relevant parameters before releasing cases for production.
- Collaborate with dentists, implant planners, and laboratory teams to communicate case concerns, clarify requirements, and coordinate recommended modifications before finalizing designs.
- Prepare and manage final digital production files, including CAD files for 3D printing, milling, or other CAM processes, while maintaining accurate case records and troubleshooting digital workflow issues.
- Manage multiple cases and production timelines while maintaining accuracy, quality, and efficiency and contributing to continuous improvement of digital workflows and laboratory processes.
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Technician (CDT), Registered Dental Technologist (RDT) designation, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
- Previous experience in digital dental CAD/CAM, digital dentistry, or implant dentistry.
- Experience with implant surgical guide design is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with 3Shape, exocad, or equivalent dental CAD/CAM and implant-planning software.
- Experience working with CBCT/DICOM and intraoral scan/STL data, including data merging and alignment.
- Strong understanding of implant dentistry, dental anatomy, prosthetically driven implant planning, and guided surgery principles.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to quality.
- Experience with 3D printing, milling, CAM manufacturing, multiple implant systems, or guided surgical kits is an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with dentists, implant planners, and laboratory teams.
