Job Summary
Bridge to Care is a leading Alberta not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities through person-centred supports, community inclusion, and innovative programs.
We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Inclusive Education Facilitator to join our Bridge to Success – Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (IPSE) Program at Red Deer Polytechnic.
This rewarding role provides individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities as they participate in post-secondary education. The Inclusive Education Facilitator works closely with students, faculty, Student Supports, Accessibility Services, and community partners to help students achieve academic success, develop independence, participate fully in campus life, and prepare for meaningful employment and community inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized academic, social, and personal support to students enrolled in the Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (IPSE) Program.
- Assist students in achieving their educational, employment, and personal development goals.
- Support students in classroom participation, note-taking, study skills, assignment planning, time management, and organization.
- Promote student independence, self-determination, self-advocacy, and confidence.
- Encourage active participation in campus activities, student organizations, volunteer opportunities, recreation, and college events.
- Assist students in developing independent living, communication, interpersonal, and workplace readiness skills.
- Support career exploration, experiential learning opportunities, volunteer placements, and employment preparation.
- Collaborate with students, families, Red Deer Polytechnic faculty, Accessibility Services, Student Supports, employers, and community partners to ensure successful student outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and monitor person-centred support plans based on each student's strengths, interests, and goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, service records, and reports in accordance with organizational and funding requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences, staff training, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with Bridge to Care policies, Alberta legislation, funding agreements, and Red Deer Polytechnic policies and procedures where applicable.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming learning environment that promotes diversity, equity, accessibility, and belonging.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
- Disability Studies
- Human Services
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Education
- Child and Youth Care
- Rehabilitation Services
- Therapeutic Recreation
- or a related human services discipline.
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities will also be considered.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities in educational, vocational, employment, or community settings.
- Experience working within post-secondary education or inclusive education programs is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of inclusive education principles and person-centred planning.
- Understanding of accessibility, accommodation, and student support practices within post-secondary environments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong documentation, time management, and computer skills.
Requirements
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.
- Reliable vehicle with valid insurance.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Alberta Intervention Record Check.
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and electronic documentation systems.
