Help Build the Financial Foundation for a Growing Canadian Manufacturer
Progressive Industrial Fluids is a Canadian-owned manufacturer of specialty lubricants, metalworking fluids, stamping compounds, and industrial chemical solutions serving manufacturers across Canada.
For nearly two decades, we have helped our customers improve productivity, reduce costs, and optimize manufacturing performance through technical expertise and continuous improvement.
Today, we are entering our next phase of growth.
Over the past several years, we have invested heavily in building the infrastructure required to scale, including:
- Modern ERP systems through Odoo
- Standardized processes and documented workflows
- Enhanced costing and reporting capabilities
- Expanded manufacturing and laboratory capabilities
- Strong technical service and customer support teams
Our vision is to significantly expand our footprint across Ontario, accelerate growth across Canada, and establish a strategic presence in the U.S. Midwest over the next decade.
To achieve this, we are looking for an exceptional Controller who wants to be more than an accountant. We are seeking a finance leader who will help build the financial systems, processes, and insights that support sustainable growth.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact leadership role for a hands-on Controller with strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience.
You will work directly with the CEO, operations leaders, and our part-time CFO to create the financial visibility, controls, and decision-making tools required to scale the business.
You will own the integrity of our financial data while helping leadership answer critical questions:
- Which products, customers, and markets create the greatest value?
- How can we improve margins and working capital?
- Where should we invest for growth?
- How do we scale efficiently while maintaining profitability?
This role offers a clear path to increased leadership responsibility as the company grows.
What You'll LeadFinancial Leadership
- Own the full accounting cycle, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, cash flow reports, and management reporting packages
- Support strategic planning with actionable financial analysis
- Partner with leadership on growth initiatives and capital planning
Cost Accounting & Operational Finance
- Develop and refine product costing models
- Improve visibility into material, labour, and overhead costs
- Support pricing strategy and margin improvement initiatives
- Analyze manufacturing performance and operational efficiency
ERP, Data & Business Intelligence
- Own financial processes and data integrity within Odoo
- Improve reporting capabilities and KPI visibility
- Build dashboards and performance metrics that support decision-making
- Drive cross-functional process improvements
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Improve inventory visibility and controls
- Support accounts receivable management and collections
- Optimize inventory, payables, and purchasing decisions
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the accounting function
- Coach and support the AR/Accounting Clerk
- Build scalable processes and controls that support future growth
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12 months, you will:
- Improve costing accuracy and margin visibility
- Strengthen reporting and forecasting capabilities
- Enhance ERP utilization and financial data integrity
- Increase working capital efficiency
- Build scalable financial processes that support future expansion
What You Bring
- CPA designation preferred
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong cost accounting and inventory management expertise
- Experience with ERP systems; Odoo experience is an asset
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Proven ability to improve processes and drive operational results
