Part-Time Bookkeeper
The Lower North Thompson Community Forest Society (LNTCFS) is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis. We are looking for a candidate with a strong bookkeeping background who can take responsibility for the Society’s day-to-day accounting functions and maintain accurate, timely financial records.
The ideal candidate will be capable of managing the full bookkeeping function, including accounts payable and receivable, bank and account reconciliations, payroll, statutory remittances, and preparation of regular financial reports. LNTCFS currently uses Sage Accounting and Payworks for payroll.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated bookkeeping experience, including responsibility for maintaining a general ledger
- Proficiency with Sage Accounting or comparable accounting software
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and account reconciliations, and month-end bookkeeping
- Experience processing payroll and related remittances; experience with Payworks or similar payroll software is an asset
- Knowledge of payroll requirements, including deductions, benefits, Records of Employment and year-end T4 preparation
- Experience with GST, PST and WorkSafeBC reporting and remittances
- Ability to prepare accurate financial summaries and monthly financial statements for management review
- Strong attention to detail, organization and ability to meet reporting deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with management, staff and the Society’s external accountant
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Society’s accounting records and general ledger
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable and ensure accurate supporting documentation
- Complete bank, credit card and other account reconciliations
- Process payroll and related remittances, including benefits administration and Records of Employment
- Prepare and file GST, PST, WorkSafeBC and other routine statutory reports and remittances
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting reports for management and Board review
- Assist with year-end accounting and provide information required by the Society’s external accountant and auditor
- Prepare annual T4 and T4A information returns, as applicable
- Maintain organized and complete financial records and supporting documentation
- Other bookkeeping-related duties as required
Position Details:
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule anticipated to average approximately 15-25 hours per week. Some flexibility in scheduling may be available for the right candidate. The position is intended to be primarily office-based in Barriere to support effective communication, access to records and continuity of the Society’s financial administration.
Compensation:
- $30-$40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
