The Role
We are looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to lead site operations on commercial construction projects in and around Calgary and Central Alberta. This role will begin on a project in Calgary for approximately 12 months.
Following completion, this role will transition to additional projects in and around Calgary and Central Alberta, providing long-term opportunity and the opportunity to build a lasting career with Westcor.
This role is responsible for the overall execution of on-site work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with Westcor’s quality standards. You will lead a site team, playing a key role in coordination, mentorship, and maintaining a professional and productive site environment.

You’ll be part of a Project Delivery Team (PDT) that includes a Project Manager and Project Coordinator, working together to deliver high-quality projects through proactive planning and strong communication.
We provide structured onboarding and team support, ensuring our Site Superintendents are set up for success and not left to operate in isolation. We are focused on building long-term careers, providing our Site Superintendents with consistent project opportunities and the ability to grow within the organization over time.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership, Safety & Quality
- Lead site safety in compliance with Alberta OHS legislation and Westcor standards, including hazard assessments, inspections, and incident investigations
- Ensure all work meets Westcor quality standards and complies with contract requirements for inspections and testing
- Promote a professional, respectful, and safety-first culture across all site personnel
Project Execution & Scheduling
- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities from mobilization through to project close-out
- Monitor and actively steer the project schedule using the Last Planner System, including facilitating weekly planning meetings
- Identify constraints, track commitments, and escalate risks to the Project Delivery Team
- Review and proactively manage scopes of work in alignment with contract documents
Trade Coordination, Communication & RFIs
- Act as the primary liaison between trades, consultants, clients, and the Project Delivery Team
- Coordinate and sequence work to align with drawings, specifications, and schedule requirements
- Develop, track, and follow up on site-initiated RFIs through to resolution
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and Project Coordinator on schedule, deliverables, constraints, and site progress
- Support change orders and site-driven changes with detailed input and costing considerations
Site Operations & Resource Management
- Coordinate site mobilization and demobilization, including site setup and logistics
- Manage site resources including labour, equipment, and materials, and monitor productivity of trades and self-performed work
- Oversee daily site documentation including logs, timesheets, and site records
- Review site quantities, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Liaise with building authorities and regulatory bodies
Project Controls, Financial & Procurement Support
- Provide input on trade progress, monthly billings, and cost impacts to the Project Manager
- Participate in WIP meetings and support cost tracking and forecasting
- Assist with back charges and cost recovery documentation where required
- Support site-level procurement and participate in trade award and project start-up activities in alignment with Westcor processes
Meetings, Planning & Project Coordination
- Lead or participate in key site meetings, including weekly Last Planner sessions and client/consultant meetings
- Contribute to commissioning and turnover planning (testing, start-ups, training)
- Participate in Project Success and internal planning meetings, including monthly reviews
- Ensure meeting outcomes are documented and followed up
Design and Submittals
- Review drawings and shop drawings for constructability, coordination, and completeness
- Provide practical input during design and planning phases to support efficient project delivery
- Review owner-supplied equipment for compatibility with design and construction
Project Close-Out & Turnover
- Lead site close-out activities including deficiencies, inspections, and as-built coordination
- Conduct internal walkthroughs and support client turnover
- Oversee completion of deficiency and warranty-related work
Leadership & Mentorship
- Support and mentor junior team members within the Project Delivery Team
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and solutions-focused site environment
- Encourage continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and team development
Business Development & Client Relationships
- Support positive client and stakeholder relationships through professional site representation
- Contribute to project success and client satisfaction as a key driver of repeat business
- Act as a Westcor brand ambassador on site and in the community
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Completion of secondary school
- 6+ years of related and progressive experience as a Site Superintendent
- Journeyperson trade certification
- Experience in the construction / GC industry
Skills and Attributes
- Good understanding of construction management, and construction principles and practices
- Good understanding of all Project Delivery Methods
- Good understanding and accountability of the site’s financial management of projects
- Ability to interpret legislation, laws and regulations
- Analytical and creative thinking skills
- Communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
- Strong work ethic and highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete deadlines in a timely manner
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to navigate MS Office
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and ability to navigate and effectively use CRM / IPM
Work Environment and Travel
- Full-time, site-based role beginning in Calgary for approximately 12 months.
- Ongoing work across Calgary and Central Alberta following project completion
- Quarterly travel to Calgary head office for team meetings and collaboration

- Salary range of $97,754 - $127,081, based on experience
