The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting business stakeholders by developing and maintaining reports, contributing to data model enhancements, and assisting in the design of analytics solutions that align with business needs.
This role actively identifies opportunities to improve and refine data structures, reporting outputs, and user experiences. The Data Analyst collaborates closely with business teams to ensure reporting solutions are accurate, relevant, and aligned with the intended decision-making context.
Success in this role comes from consistently delivering accurate, reliable data outputs, improving report usability and clarity, and supporting stakeholders in making informed, data-driven decisions. This includes a strong focus on validating data, understanding how reports are used in practice, and continuously enhancing reporting solutions to better support operational and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Reporting Development & Delivery (Core)

Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards using existing data models and structures.
- Develop both recurring and ad hoc reports to support business needs.
- Enhance reports by improving layout, clarity, and usability for end users.
- Perform data preparation, transformation, and cleansing activities.

Ensure reports meet defined requirements and align with established standards.
Business Requirements Support

Work with business stakeholders to gather and clarify reporting requirements.
- Translate business needs into report designs and visualizations.

Collaborate with business leaders to refine requirements and solutions.

Assist in defining metrics and calculations for reporting purposes.
Data Modelling & Structure (Support & Contribution)

Develop reports using existing data models and datasets.
- Support enhancements to data models, including relationships and calculated fields.
- Assist in building new datasets and structures under guidance.
- Ensure alignment with established data standards and naming conventions.
- Test and validate model changes to ensure accuracy and performance.
Data Validation & Quality

Validate report outputs against source systems and expectations.
- Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies or data issues.
- Work with data owners to resolve quality issues. Support initiatives to improve overall data accuracy and reliability.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement

Maintain clear documentation of reports, datasets, and processes.
- Provide user support and troubleshoot reporting issues.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reports and improve user experience.
- Participate in ongoing analytics and reporting improvement initiatives.
- Support adoption of reporting tools across business units.

1–3 years of experience in data analysis or reporting roles.

Post-secondary education in business, analytics, IT, or a related field.

Experience working with Power BI, Excel, or similar reporting tools.

Familiarity with data concepts such as joins, relationships, and basic modelling.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Working knowledge of Power BI, Excel, and data analysis techniques.
- Basic understanding of data modelling and relational data concepts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to learn.
