The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for partnering directly with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translate complex business questions into meaningful analytics, and design scalable reporting structures from the ground up. This role goes beyond traditional report development by establishing reporting frameworks, data models, and governance structures that support consistent, trusted decision-making across the organization. This position requires a strong consultative mindset, the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical audiences, and a deep understanding of the operational context behind the data.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Business Partnership & Requirements Interpretation

Partner directly with business leaders and operational teams to understand the intent and decision-making context behind requests.

Facilitate structured discussions to define business questions, success measures, and reporting objectives.

Translate ambiguous or evolving requests into structured, actionable reporting requirements.

Challenge and refine stakeholder assumptions to ensure accurate interpretation of data needs.

Act as a trusted advisor in helping stakeholders interpret data outputs and insights.
Reporting Framework & Structure Design

Design and develop scalable reporting frameworks that support cross-functional use.

Create reusable data models that serve multiple analytical and reporting needs.

Define and enforce standards for report layout, naming conventions, and calculations.

Ensure consistency in how metrics are defined, calculated, and presented across reports.

Build foundational analytics solutions in areas with limited or no existing reporting structure.
Data Modelling, Permissions & Governance

Design and maintain data models that support performance, usability, and scalability.

Develop and manage role-based access controls and data permission structures.

Collaborate with IT and leadership to align reporting with security and governance requirements.

Maintain clear documentation of data definitions, calculations, and ownership.

Ensure data integrity and proper usage through governance best practices.
Reporting & Analytics Delivery

Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards aligned with organizational standards.

Deliver insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.

Validate report outputs through reconciliation with source systems.

Monitor report performance and optimize data models and queries.
