About the Role
Château Moncton is looking for an experienced, energetic, guest-focused, and sales-minded Assistant Hotel Manager to join our leadership team.
The Assistant Hotel Manager plays a key role in the daily operation of the hotel, supporting the General Manager and department leaders while ensuring our guests receive exceptional service. The ideal candidate is a confident leader with strong hospitality and sales skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively communicate with guests, clients, and employees in both English and French.
This position will also play an active role in business development, sales outreach, and prospecting new leads to help grow hotel revenue and strengthen relationships within the local business and tourism community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
- Support and lead hotel departments to maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction.
- Supervise, coach, motivate, and develop employees.
- Respond professionally and effectively to guest concerns and resolve issues.
- Monitor hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and other departments as required.
- Ensure hotel policies, procedures, and standards are consistently followed.
- Assist with scheduling, staffing, training, and performance management.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
- Monitor service quality and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Assist with health, safety, security, and emergency procedures.
- Support revenue, cost-control, and productivity initiatives.
- Identify and prospect new sales leads and business opportunities.
- Develop relationships with local businesses, organizations, groups, and corporate clients to generate hotel business.
- Follow up on sales leads, inquiries, proposals, and potential group or corporate bookings.
- Identify opportunities to increase room nights, meetings, events, corporate accounts, and other hotel revenue.
- Work with the General Manager to develop and execute sales initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of sales prospects, contacts, and follow-up activities.
- Represent Château Moncton at local business, tourism, and community events when required.
- Act as Manager on Duty when required.
- Build positive relationships with guests, employees, vendors, and business partners.
Qualifications
- Fluency in both English and French is required.
- Previous hotel or hospitality management experience.
- Previous sales, business development, account management, or lead-generation experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect for new business and convert leads into sales opportunities.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building abilities.
- Professional, positive, and guest-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative to generate new business.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
- Proficiency with hotel management systems - specifically Opera Cloud - CRM systems, and Microsoft Office is an asset.
- Previous experience as a Front Desk Supervisor, Department Manager, Assistant General Manager, Sales Manager, or similar role is an asset.
