POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Network Engineer is a senior member of the Network Operations team responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, availability, and security of the enterprise network infrastructure supporting retail stores, distribution centers, corporate offices, cloud environments, and remote workforce connectivity.
This role provides advanced L2 and L3 operational support for critical network services and acts as a technical escalation point for complex incidents, recurring problems, and high-priority business-impacting events. The engineer will partner closely with Network Engineering, Architecture, Security, Cloud, Infrastructure, and vendor teams to drive operational excellence, improve service reliability, and support enterprise network transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational experience with deep technical expertise across routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, security, remote access, and cloud networking platforms while demonstrating the ability to lead major incident response, mentor engineers, and continuously improve operational processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
L2 & L3 OPERATIONS SUPPORT
- Serve as a senior L2/L3 escalation point for complex network incidents and operational issues. Lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts for Sev-1, Sev-2, and business-critical incidents. Perform advanced fault isolation across WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, Cloud, and Security technologies. Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning for major incidents. Identify recurring issues and develop long-term solutions to improve service stability. Participate in on-call and major incident response rotations as required. Track and manage Incident, Problem, and Service Request tickets through their lifecycle. Ensure all operational activities meet established SLA and service objectives.
NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE OPERATIONS:
- Maintain and support enterprise network services across global locations. Ensure network platforms remain healthy, secure, and compliant with operational standards. Support lifecycle management activities including hardware refreshes, software upgrades, and platform modernization initiatives. Provide operational support for technology deployments and transition activities from Engineering to Operations. Review, validate, and implement network changes in accordance with change management
processes. Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, operational runbooks, and knowledge articles. Participate in architecture reviews and operational planning discussions. Drive operational excellence through process improvement and standardization initiatives.
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP:
- Act as a technical mentor for junior and intermediate network engineers. Provide guidance during troubleshooting, incident investigations, and project delivery. Lead operational readiness reviews for new technologies and large-scale initiatives. Contribute to operational standards, support models, and best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, supportability, and operational efficiency. Review implementation plans and provide technical oversight for complex changes.
AUTOMATION & OBSERVABILITY:
- Identify opportunities to automate manual operational activities. Develop and maintain operational tooling using Python, APIs, Ansible, or equivalent technologies. Enhance monitoring, alerting, telemetry, and dashboard capabilities to improve operational visibility. Partner with Engineering teams to improve proactive detection and service reliability. Support observability initiatives and operational reporting.
SOFTWARE & PLATFORM MAINTENANCE:
- Perform software maintenance and lifecycle management for network and security platforms. Plan, validate, schedule, and execute firmware and software upgrades across supported technologies. Review vendor advisories, software releases, and security bulletins for recommended updates. Validate network functionality and service stability following maintenance activities. Drive vulnerability remediation and compliance-related upgrades.
STAKEHOLDER & VENDOR ENGAGEMENT:
- Collaborate with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors. Coordinate technical escalations with vendors, OEMs, ISPs, and managed service providers. Open and manage support cases with Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, Zscaler, Aviatrix, AWS, Microsoft, and other technology partners as required. Provide technical updates to leadership, stakeholders, and project teams. Drive vendor accountability and follow incidents through to resolution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of enterprise networking experience. 5+ years supporting Network Operations environments. Proven experience providing advanced L2 and L3 support within large-scale enterprise networks. Experience supporting geographically distributed environments including retail locations, warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, branch offices, and corporate campuses. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex multi-domain networking issues. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Cisco SD-WAN (vManage, vSmart, WAN Edge) Cisco Meraki (LAN and WLAN) Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and Panorama Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) AWS Networking Services Microsoft Azure Networking Services Aviatrix Cloud Networking Infoblox DHCP and DNS Services Enterprise Network Monitoring and Observability Platforms
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:
Extensive experience supporting enterprise networking environments utilizing Cisco SD-WAN, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, AWS, Azure, Aviatrix, and Infoblox technologies. Strong expertise in routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP; network security technologies including firewalls, VPNs, Zero Trust (ZTNA), and SASE architectures; and cloud networking solutions supporting hybrid connectivity models. Experience implementing automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, and GitHub. Demonstrated expertise in Incident Management, Problem Management, Root Cause Analysis, fault isolation, network optimization, capacity planning, operational readiness reviews, vendor escalation management, and supporting large-scale enterprise environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise). Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent industry experience.
- Palo Alto PCNSE certification. Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700). AWS Advanced Networking Specialty or equivalent cloud networking experience. ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent operational experience.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with Juniper routing and switching platforms. Working knowledge of Junos OS. Experience supporting mixed-vendor enterprise environments. Exposure to Juniper Mist wireless solutions. Experience with network automation using Juniper APIs and tooling. Experience supporting enterprise modernization, cloud transformation, and migration programs.

Pay: $45.00-$50.00 per hour
