Position Summary
Fortress Technology is seeking an experienced and results-driven Digital Marketing Specialist – Web & SEO to strengthen our digital presence and support continued business growth.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this is a senior individual-contributor role responsible for the hands-on management, optimization and continuous improvement of our website, search engine visibility, digital campaigns and online performance.
The ideal candidate combines strong website and SEO expertise with digital marketing, analytics and content optimization capabilities. This person will be comfortable working both strategically and hands-on — identifying opportunities, recommending improvements, implementing solutions and measuring results.
This role will work closely with the Marketing Manager and other internal stakeholders to improve website performance, increase qualified organic traffic, strengthen search visibility, support lead generation and ensure our digital presence effectively represents the Fortress brand and business.
Key Responsibilities
Website Management & Optimization
- Manage and continuously improve the company website, including content, structure, functionality and overall user experience.
- Create, update and optimize website pages, landing pages, product information and other digital content.
- Identify opportunities to improve website navigation, usability, engagement and conversion.
- Monitor website health, performance, page speed and Core Web Vitals and coordinate technical improvements as required.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external web partners or vendors when more advanced development support is required.
- Ensure website content remains accurate, current, professional and aligned with brand standards.
- Apply conversion-rate optimization principles to improve visitor-to-lead performance.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Develop and execute ongoing SEO strategies to improve organic search visibility and qualified website traffic.
- Conduct keyword, competitor and search-intent research to identify growth opportunities.
- Manage on-page SEO, including page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, image optimization and content structure.
- Identify and address technical SEO issues affecting indexing, crawling, site architecture and search performance.
- Perform regular SEO audits and recommend priorities for improvement.
- Monitor backlink profiles and identify opportunities to improve domain authority and online visibility.
- Optimize existing content and develop recommendations for new SEO-driven content.
- Stay current with changes to Google search algorithms and emerging search practices.
AI Search / AEO / GEO
- Monitor developments in AI-driven search and evolving search behaviour.
- Identify opportunities to improve the company's visibility within AI-generated search results and conversational search platforms.
- Apply appropriate structured content, schema, authority and content optimization practices to support both traditional SEO and emerging AI search environments.
Analytics & Performance
- Monitor website and digital marketing performance using tools such as Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager.
- Develop regular reporting on website traffic, organic search performance, conversions, campaign activity and other key digital KPIs.
- Translate digital data into clear recommendations and actionable improvements.
- Establish appropriate tracking for campaigns, landing pages and conversion activities.
- Identify trends, performance gaps and opportunities for continuous optimization.
- Support development of marketing dashboards and reporting for the Marketing Manager and leadership team.
Digital Marketing
- Support the planning and execution of integrated digital marketing campaigns.
- Work with the external Google Ads agency to ensure paid search and digital advertising activities are aligned and integrated with the overall marketing strategy and business requirements.
- Optimize campaign landing pages and digital customer journeys.
- Support email marketing, marketing automation and lead-generation activities.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager on digital strategies designed to increase brand awareness, engagement and qualified leads.
- Monitor competitor digital activity and identify relevant market opportunities.
Content & Digital Brand
- Collaborate with internal subject-matter experts to develop and optimize website and digital content.
- Ensure digital content is written and structured for both the target audience and search visibility.
- Support development of articles, case studies, product content, thought leadership and other digital assets.
- Ensure consistent brand presentation across digital channels.
- Provide SEO and digital-performance guidance to colleagues developing marketing content.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Act as the internal subject-matter resource for website optimization, SEO and digital performance.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing Manager while independently owning assigned digital initiatives.
- Coordinate with external agencies, web developers and other marketing partners as required.
- Stay current on digital marketing technologies, SEO developments, analytics tools, AI-enabled marketing tools and industry best practices.
- Recommend new technologies, tools and processes that could improve marketing effectiveness and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Business, Web Development or a related discipline.
- Approximately 4–6 years of progressive digital marketing experience, with significant hands-on responsibility for websites and SEO.
- Demonstrated experience improving organic search rankings, website traffic and/or digital conversion performance.
- Strong understanding of both technical and on-page SEO.
- Hands-on experience with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager.
- Experience working with content management systems such as WordPress or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of website structure, user experience, landing-page optimization and conversion principles.
- Experience with HubSpot CRM is strongly preferred, particularly for lead generation and marketing contact management.
- Experience with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz or similar platforms.
- Experience collaborating with external agencies on Google Ads, paid search or digital campaign optimization is an asset.
- Familiarity with email marketing and marketing automation platforms is an asset.
- Experience using AI-enabled marketing and content tools is an asset.
- Knowledge of emerging AI search, AEO and GEO practices is an asset.
