Job Description: Parent Group Leader (Saturdays Only) Glen Fallls

Organization: Bee Me Kidz (BMK)

Position Type: Part-Time (Saturdays Only)

Location: Glen Falls School

Job Purpose

Bee Me Kidz (BMK) is a nonprofit educational organization committed to empowering elementary-aged children and their families with essential social and emotional skills for lifelong success.

BMK Parent Group Leaders are part-time staff members who support the Saturday program by leading a parallel Parent Group while children participate in their own activities. This group provides a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where parents and caregivers can connect, share, and explore current issues and everyday challenges. The goal is to strengthen parents’ capacity to support their children’s social and emotional development at home through meaningful conversation, community building, and practical strategies.

Saturday Roles

1. Parent Group

· Set up your room or space with the necessary materials before the program begins.

· Deliver the PATHS lesson of the day using engaging methods such as games, art, books, music, and other creative tools.

· Facilitate the group in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment where all participants feel safe, welcomed, and accepted, encouraging open and respectful conversations about everyday challenges and experiences.

· Support transitions between activities and maintain a structured, fun learning environment.

· Ensure parents sign the attendance sheet each week to support accurate tracking of food box distribution and BMK clothing inventory.

2. Kitchen

· Supports the preparation and timely delivery of meals for the family brunch program, helps with kitchen tasks when time is available, and ensures proper cleanup following food safety standards.

3. Program Setup/Takedown

· Prepares and resets program spaces to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for children and families. Provides logistical support throughout the day to maintain smooth program operations.

Saturday Responsibilities

· Create a nurturing and supportive environment that ensures the constant supervision, safety, and overall well-being of all participants in the program.

· Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards established by Bee Me Kidz and the School District.

· Assist with the family brunch program, including cooking, serving, and cleaning duties.

· Support children and families during mealtimes in a friendly and respectful manner.

· Demonstrate strong teamwork by fostering a supportive environment and maintaining confidentiality and respect for all individuals in the program.

· Support various aspects of program operations, including classroom activities, kitchen tasks, and program setup and takedown.

· Arrive on time each Saturday, having reviewed weekly emails and communications to be fully prepared for your assigned tasks

Education and Experience

· Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Education, Adult Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Family Coaching).

· Experience working with both adults and youth.

Certifications & Requirements

· Valid First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).

· Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon hiring).

Professional Skills

· Strong communication, problem-solving, and goal-setting abilities.

· Ability to manage and resolve conflict effectively.

· Skilled in planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities.

· Able to relate to and support a diverse group of parents.

· Maintains a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.

Personal Attributes

· Patient, flexible, and empathetic in working with families.

· Committed to a part-time schedule (up to 8-hour shifts on Saturdays, 22 Saturdays throughout the school year).

Working Conditions

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.

· Must be physically able to lift and carry supplies and equipment (up to 40 lbs).

· May be required to stand, walk, or engage in physical activity for extended periods during program delivery.

Additional Considerations

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in teaching or supporting social and emotional learning. Candidates who reside in the community being served may also be prioritized.
