RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates variety of woodworking machines and uses various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden cabinets
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to be constructed or repaired, and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed
- Marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing specifications
- Matches materials for color, grain, or texture
- Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files
- Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine
- Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps
- Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints
- Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing
- Dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative materials, such as stain, varnish, or paint
- Install hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls
- Cut, shape, and assemble wooden parts to construct frames for cabinet’s windows or door
- Assemble cut pieces at the workbench by using drawings and cutting lists
- When necessary and as requested by the Foreman, be willing and able to assist the machine operator in cutting and planning all solid woods and sheet goods, according to cutting lists
- Proficient in the use of all basic production equipment table saws jointer, thickness planer, drum sander, cut-off saw, edge bander, beam saw, sanding machine as well as hand tools
Qualifications Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications and work from sketches
- Proficient and able to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materials required of the trade
- Previous CNC experience considered an asset.
- Must be able to work independently or in a group/team setting as an effective learner / listener
- Skilled in the residential construction, repair, restoration and installation techniques for assigned work projects
- Ability to work in a physical demanding position and a fast paced team environment
- Ability to work in an indoor confined work area environment
- Position requires vehicle to drive to an from Nisku on a daily basis
- Position requires strong English communication skills, including written, spoken and comprehension
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Additional Information
Year round full time employment. Must have vehicle to commute to Nisku. Shop Hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with the expectation to work overtime in the morning at 5:00 am.

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
