About the Role
CIMtech Manufacturing is seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines while ensuring the safe and efficient production of high-quality components.
This role involves working with CNC milling machines and lathes, interpreting technical drawings and component models, and determining optimal machining processes. The CNC Machinist will collaborate closely with the production team to optimize setups, improve machining cycles, and maintain quality standards.
Core Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of CNC setup experience, including fixtures, tooling, and vises
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Mastercam programming
- Experience developing and machining prototype components
- Ability to interpret and work with technical drawings and blueprints, including part views, definitions, and notes
- Understanding of quality procedures, documentation, and training protocols
- Responsible for basic machine maintenance, including cleaning, coolant maintenance, and chip removal
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Primary Responsibilities
- Independently deliver quality products that meet all specifications, including CNC programming, setup documentation, and quality control documentation
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge and precision instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
- Machine parts to specifications using CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and other machining equipment
- Inspect and test finished parts to detect defects and ensure compliance with specifications
- Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools to perform precision machining operations
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering data to determine machining methods and operational sequences
- Measure and mark material blanks to guide cutting operations
- Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions and perform necessary adjustments
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance of machines and equipment
- Collaborate with CNC programmers to verify new programs and ensure proper machine performance
- Evaluate machining procedures and recommend improvements for efficiency and adaptability
- Design fixtures, tooling, and prototype parts to meet specific engineering requirements
- Follow established safety procedures to protect personnel, equipment, and materials
- Adhere to documented processes, on-the-job training guidelines, and preventive maintenance checklists
Education
- Machinist Certification, Diploma, or equivalent experience
Candidates must possess a valid Canadian work permit, Permanent Residency, or Canadian citizenship.
