Bookkeeper (Maternity Leave Contract)

About Us

Nordic Collision, operating as Fix Auto Nepean, has proudly served the Ottawa community since 1973. We are a modern, state-of-the-art collision repair facility recognized for exceptional workmanship, integrity, and outstanding customer service. As one of Ottawa's preferred collision repair centres, we work closely with many of Canada's leading insurance companies while maintaining a strong commitment to our customers, employees, and the quality of our work.

We are currently seeking a Bookkeeper to join our team on a full-time maternity leave contract. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position plays an important role in supporting the financial and administrative operations of the business.

About the Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level or junior bookkeeper looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a well-established and growing organization.

The successful candidate will work alongside and receive comprehensive training from our current Bookkeeper prior to the commencement of her maternity leave, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.

This position is a full-time, six (6) month contract, beginning in September 2026, with the possibility of extension for up to one (1) year, depending on business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As our Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for:

Processing customer invoices and accurately recording transactions in Sage 50
Managing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Reconciling general ledger accounts
Preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate accounting records
Assisting with month-end bookkeeping and financial reporting
Maintaining organized accounting files and supporting documentation
Assisting with administrative duties and office support as required
Providing backup support to the front desk during busy periods
Communicating professionally with customers, suppliers, insurance partners, and fellow team members
Performing other bookkeeping and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

Bookkeeping education, diploma, certificate, or equivalent practical experience
Working knowledge of Sage 50 (Simply Accounting) is required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Basic understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and general bookkeeping principles
Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Professional communication and interpersonal skills
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
Experience within the automotive or collision repair industry is considered an asset but is not required

Compensation & Schedule

$20.00 per hour
Monday to Friday
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
One (1) hour unpaid lunch break
No group benefits are provided for this contract position
Expected start date: September 2026
