Job Description:
Service Responsibilities:
Complete customer transactions including cash and debit sales. Receive, price, sort, load and unload, pack and store donations as directed. Select donations for store distribution meeting established standards of quality and distinguishing between discarded and good quality merchandise according to company standards Assist with store layout plans to attract customers which includes window displays and merchandise displays; ensures attractiveness of the store by keeping work are neat and tidy. Contribute to meeting store budgets by maintaining customer service standards, proving service to customers and greeting customers. Comply with all safety procedures and worker guidelines Assist with the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the sales floor, recycling and moving furniture, etc. Replenish inventory levels as directed. Contribute to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, and clean spillage.) Perform other position related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Completed Secondary School

Minimum of six (6) months of prior related experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guidelines are an asset

Be able to lift/move up to 45 lbs.

Cash handling experience is an asset.

Knowledge and experience using a cash register interact and/or credit card processing is a definite asset.

Strong oral and written communication skills

Self-motivated and disciplined

Job requires frequent twisting, lifting, bending, crouching, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and kneeling

Provide an original copy of a Background Check screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.

Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

Conditions of Employment:

This is a temporary contract position based on 24 hours per week.

Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities – some weekend work will be required.

Some flexibility in scheduling may be required.

Supervisor will set the work schedule.
Normal hours of work: rotating work schedule, Monday to Friday with alternating Saturdays as per the Thrift Store hours of operation, Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the summer months, the Thrift Store hours of operation are Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break where applicable.
Normal location of work is at 155 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg, ON
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $19.85 with a maximum of $23.82.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
