Junior Project Manager – Low Voltage Systems

Position Summary
SI Alarms Ltd. is seeking a motivated and organized Junior Project Manager to assist in the planning, coordination, execution, and completion of commercial and residential low-voltage installation projects. The successful candidate will oversee projects from award through completion while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to SI Alarms' quality standards.
The Junior Project Manager will work closely with customers, general contractors, electrical contractors, suppliers, technicians, and municipal authorities to coordinate all aspects of project delivery.
Primary Responsibilities Project Coordination
- Assist in managing multiple low-voltage installation projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate project schedules from project kickoff through final completion.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Attend project kickoff meetings and site meetings.
- Monitor project progress and identify scheduling conflicts.
- Maintain accurate project documentation.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Provide regular project status updates to management.
Installation Oversight
Oversee installation of:
- CCTV Video Surveillance Systems
- Access Control Systems
- Intrusion Alarm Systems
- Intercom & Entry Systems
- Nurse Call Systems
- Structured Cabling
- Fibre Optic Infrastructure
- Audio/Visual Systems
- Paging Systems
- Wireless Networks
- Low Voltage Infrastructure
Responsibilities include:
- Scheduling installation crews.
- Coordinating material deliveries.
- Monitoring installation quality.
- Ensuring installations comply with manufacturer standards.
- Confirming commissioning and testing are completed.
- Ensuring deficiencies are corrected promptly.
Contractor Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact with:
- General Contractors
- Electrical Contractors
- Mechanical Contractors
- Consultants
- Architects
- Owners
- Building Managers
Responsibilities include:
- Attending coordination meetings.
- Reviewing construction schedules.
- Coordinating access to work areas.
- Managing change requests.
- Resolving installation conflicts.
- Communicating project updates.
Permits & Inspections
Coordinate all required project approvals including:
- Building permits
- Electrical permit coordination
- Fire alarm inspection scheduling (where applicable)
- Municipal inspections
- Occupancy requirements
- Final inspections
- Customer acceptance inspections
Ensure:
- Required documentation is submitted.
- Inspection deficiencies are corrected promptly.
- Project close-out documentation is completed.
Material & Procurement Coordination
- Review project bill of materials.
- Coordinate equipment ordering with Purchasing.
- Monitor delivery schedules.
- Ensure required materials arrive before installation.
- Identify shortages before they impact project schedules.
- Coordinate returns and warranty replacements.
Technician Support
- Schedule installation technicians.
- Provide project documentation.
- Clarify installation requirements.
- Monitor labour productivity.
- Conduct site visits.
- Ensure technicians follow SI Alarms installation standards.
- Promote safe work practices.
Documentation
Maintain accurate project records including:
- Project schedules
- Site meeting minutes
- RFIs
- Change Orders
- Deficiency lists
- Inspection reports
- Commissioning documentation
- As-built drawings
- Close-out documents
Customer Service
- Build positive relationships with clients.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries.
- Keep customers informed throughout project execution.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally.
- Ensure customer satisfaction upon project completion.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with SI Alarms Health & Safety Program.
- Promote COR safety requirements.
- Conduct site safety observations.
- Ensure technicians use required PPE.
- Report hazards immediately.
- Participate in toolbox meetings.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong understanding of commercial construction.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
