Our Union Station Enhancement Project Office (USEP) is hiring a Project Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Manager, in the Alliance Program Integration Team, the Project Coordinator will coordinate the design and construction of assigned transit infrastructure projects in GO Stations Capital Delivery, in a safe, timely, consistent and cost-effective manner.
Multiple work locations: 33 Yonge Street (Project office) 15 Yonge Street (Project Site office) and 130 Adelaide (Metrolinx office), and subject to change.
Start Rate (Non-negotiable): $52.20 hour
What Will I Be Doing?
- Support the Project Manager in delivering Union Station capital infrastructure projects within an active USRC rail corridor and provide technical input through all stages from initial conception, through design, construction and close-out; including reviewing project progress, work planning process, stakeholder reviews of both designs and on site built infrastructure components to commissioning and transfer to operations.
- Performs day-to-day project administration such as organizing electronic files, estimating, coordinating meetings (internal and external), attending meetings related to project or component and representing Metrolinx GO Transit at meetings with external agencies, Municipal Council committees and at public presentations or hearings as assigned, organizing and reporting on tasks, in order to minimize customer impacts, Answering contractor/consultant RFIs using the established project file systems, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, reporting upwards on items that pose risk or require additional support to move forward
- Work collaboratively with team members, consultants, contractors, project partners, project management office, sponsors, external stakeholders, and Metrolinx stakeholders, and contractors to address project issues to ensure projects are implemented consistently, efficiently, and safely in a coordinated manner. Oversee multi-discipline infrastructure projects for new design and construction and alterations to existing fixed facilities.
- Coordinate projects with relevant stakeholders to minimize customer impacts, ensure all internal and external approvals are obtained, and that design and cost dispute resolution , including stakeholder comment closeout, and timely completion within established budget and schedule restrictions are adhered to.
- As assigned, collaborate with the internal and external stakeholders to provide input into the development and implementation of risk mitigation plans while minimizing impact to the public
- Plan and report all capital project expenditures such as consultant or sub consultant and construction fees and addenda, purchase orders, construction contracts, change orders and cost sharing agreements with public or private organizations.
- Coordinate engineering projects with external agencies including the Railways to ensure compliance with legislation, codes and the requirements of governing/regulatory authorities, including the incorporation of external agency work within GO Engineering Projects.
Prepare and submit tender document specifications for construction and consultant contracts for submission to the Procurement team for tendering. Assists Procurement team during tendering by providing information to contractors and consultants.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- A college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Architectural Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering/architecture.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience related to the planning, design and construction of transit facilities or projects of related scale, interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and coordinating contracted engineering projects.
- Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of civil engineering and architecture.
- Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control, scheduling, risk, codes, standards, specifications, corporate procedures and applicable contract legislation.
- Understanding of Railway Rules and Regulations and Safety & Operating procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and think analytically with demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively in a large, integrated, matrix team environment
- Ability to effectively communicate any issues pertaining to the project to identify areas of concern in a collaborative working model.
- A collaborative mindset and experience on working on a progressive or collaborative environment
- Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications (Microsoft Office, Visio, OneNote, Teambinder, Revu Bluebeam) is essential.
- Site visits may involve exposure to different levels of construction at stations, parking lots, platforms, and railway corridors along with climbing ladders and scaffolding and exposure to inclement weather.
- A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence is required for regular site visits. A Driver’s Abstract (within the last 3 Years) will be required of the successful candidate.
Regular site visits are required during working hours and visits during evenings, weekends and/or holidays, as required.
