Overview of role:
The Engineer is accountable for planning, designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting commercial integration platforms and applications. This includes application, data, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and service management platforms. The role collaborates closely with data analytics, DevOps, cybersecurity, architecture, infrastructure, and product engineering teams. You may join a team of architects, developers, and subject matter experts to design, develop, and deploy solutions supporting integration.
Key deliverables / responsibilities include:
- Applies advanced in-depth and/or broad knowledge and considered a top resource across the organization
- Demonstrates expert knowledge in own field, with a strong understanding of adjacent areas for the development of pragmatic and creative solutions
- Makes decisions on highly complex issues and provides direction regarding approach and project components for team(s)
- Regularly makes decisions under minimal guidance that have a significant impact on the organization’s financial and business operations
- Advises one or more areas, programs, or functions and provides recommendations to management on matters of significance
- Works on unique and highly complex assignments/projects
- Work assignments involve highly complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of intangibles or unprecedented situations
- Translates highly complex business and technical needs into objectives, plans, specifications, resources, and long-term goals
- Subject matter expert who possesses advanced knowledge of the work specialty and organization
- Serves as an advisor to management and drives appropriate actions, while ensuring implementation of compliance and communication protocols
- Frequently takes full ownership of difficult assignments
- Works independently across multiple areas. Receives general business direction, as needed
- Independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and often coordinates activities/provides technical guidance to others
- Achieves goals in creative and novel ways, operating with significant autonomy
- Guides and mentors staff and provides advice to management on highly complex/strategic issues
- Often provides input to management into performance reviews for staff
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity and advanced innovation skills
- Devises new methods and procedures using strong analytical and inductive thinking
- Introduces specialized concepts to develop innovative business solutions. Serves as an advisor, mentor, and/or helps drive new initiatives
- Often operates in ambiguous situations and provides original/innovative process/technical guidance to others
- Resolves novel problems requiring creative application of advanced skill, training, and education
- Participation in on-call support rotation required
Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems or Information Security and 5+ years of experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Nice to have decent knowledge on Java , springboot application deployments and automations
- Must have build CI/CD pipelines using terraform, ansible or any other coding language
- Appropriate licenses and certifications will be an asset
- Requires expert problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills including influencing others
- Broad knowledge of all aspects of IT, including application support (operational), network and system administration, quality assurance, and application and data management
- Strong understanding of development architecture such as API, web services, etc.
- Expert understanding of cloud, infrastructure/ platform engineering, architecture, DevSecOps and application development / engineering
- Familiar with network protocols and networking infrastructure and good knowledge of network threat landscape and controls to address them
- Strong working experience Azure Integration services such as APIM , App services, AKS , function apps, event hub
- Nice to have:
- IBM Middleware Integration services such as IBM MQ, Datapower and ACE
- Nice to have working experience on Kafka
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment using Terraform, Bicep or any other automation language
- Hands-on experience in platform configuration, policy fine-tuning, optimization and maintenance
- Experience with creation of custom rules and signatures
- Familiar with security by design methodologies applied to technology and security services
- Demonstrate experience with languages such as Python, Bash, Powershell
