The Role
We’re hiring a senior Master Electrician to act as the AC Lead for Solar X.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of all AC-side electrical work for residential solar and battery systems, including Tesla Powerwall 3 installations, while also supporting commercial solar and EV projects through site assessments and accurate job quoting.
This is a leadership-level, hands-on role with real influence over quality, safety, and electrical standards across the company.
Key Responsibilities
AC Lead – Residential Solar & Battery
● Lead all AC-side solar PV tie-ins for residential systems
● Install, commission, and troubleshoot battery storage systems, including Tesla Powerwall 3
● Ensure all work meets ESA, OESC, utility, and manufacturer requirements ● Act as the internal technical authority for AC electrical standards
● Support commissioning, testing, and final inspections
Commercial Solar & EV (Support Role)
● Conduct site assessments for commercial solar and EV charger projects ● Review electrical infrastructure, service capacity, and upgrade requirements ● Support accurate scoping and quoting for commercial work
● Collaborate with design, project management, and operations teams
Work Schedule & Travel Expectations
This is a field-based role with working hours that vary based on project location and scope.
● Typical workdays align with standard daytime construction hours
● Start and end times may vary depending on site location, inspections, and logistics
● Flexibility to start earlier or later to avoid rush-hour traffic is supported and encouraged
● Some days may be longer, while others may finish earlier depending on job requirements
For projects located a significant distance from home:
● Overnight accommodations will be arranged and covered by Solar X when appropriate
● Travel planning is done with safety, efficiency, and work-life balance in mind We prioritize clear scheduling and smart planning, not unnecessary long days.
Required Qualifications
Must-Have:
● Licensed Master Electrician in Ontario
● Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
● Strong hands-on experience with residential solar PV systems
● Proven experience installing battery storage systems
● Comfortable working independently and owning AC-side outcomes
● Strong knowledge of ESA inspections and compliance
Tesla Requirement (Mandatory):
● Willingness and ability to complete Tesla Powerwall certification as a condition of employment
(Solar X will support certification where applicable.)
Assets (Highly Valued)
● Experience with commercial solar installations
● Experience with commercial EV charging systems
● Experience installing Tesla Powerwall systems
● Ability to support job scoping and quoting
● Leadership or mentoring experience within electrical teams
Compensation & Vehicle Use
Base Salary:
● $100,000 – $125,000 CAD annually, based on experience and scope
● Candidates with strong AC leadership, Tesla certification, and commercial quoting experience may be considered above this range
Vehicle Use:
● Use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel is required and reimbursed at standard CRA mileage rates
$0.70/km for the first 5,000 km
$0.64/km thereafter
