Financial Services Coordinator
$28.00 per hour | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | Windsor/Essex, ON
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting a Financial Services Coordinator for a long-term care organization in the Windsor/Essex area.
This is an immediate, full-time opportunity beginning on a temporary basis with real potential to transition into permanent employment. The role is well suited to an accounting professional who enjoys hands-on financial work but also values being part of a people-focused environment.
This is not a traditional back-office accounting position. You will be responsible for important day-to-day financial processes while regularly interacting with employees, residents, families, management, and a centralized finance team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Process payroll accurately and meet established payroll deadlines
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable activities
- Process employee payroll information, Records of Employment, T4s, benefits, pension/RRSP information, union dues, and related documentation
- Support resident billing, overdue accounts, pre-authorized payments, and other receivables
- Maintain resident trust accounts, including deposits, disbursements, and statements
- Complete bank deposits, petty cash transactions, reconciliations, reimbursements, and cheque processing
- Work with time and attendance information and ensure accurate payroll interface balancing
- Prepare financial information and support month-end reporting and audit requirements
- Respond to payroll, benefit, billing, and financial questions from employees, residents, and families
- Work closely with the Executive Director and centralized finance and payroll team
- Maintain accurate electronic records and work efficiently within a primarily digital, paperless environment
What We're Looking For
- Accounting, Business Administration, or related diploma
- Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Strong payroll knowledge and the ability to work accurately within firm processing deadlines
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including comfort working with formulas and established templates
- Strong computer skills and confidence working with digital documents and online systems
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions or escalate an issue
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Patient, professional, and comfortable interacting with employees, residents, and families
- Ability to work on-site Monday to Friday, with 9AM to 5PM preferred
- Reliable transportation to the Windsor/Essex area
Nice to Have
- ADP Workforce Now experience
- Ceridian or comparable payroll-system experience
- Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment
- Experience interpreting collective agreement provisions related to payroll
- Long-term care, retirement living, healthcare, or similar experience
- Experience with Google Workspace, NetSuite, PointClickCare, OpenInvoice, or StaffScheduleCare
The Environment
You'll be joining a growing long-term care environment where the financial services function has a direct impact on both the operation of the home and the people who live and work there.
The pace can change quickly, so this role suits someone who can maintain control of payroll and accounting deadlines while adapting to interruptions and changing priorities. Just as importantly, you'll need the patience and interpersonal skills to assist people respectfully, including older adults who may require additional time or explanation.
This combination of technical accounting ability, digital confidence, organization, and people skills is central to success in the position.
