AGRIS Co-operative Ltd. is looking for a full-time Custom Applicator Operator specializing in spray and airflow applications to join our Essex Hub team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with some agriculture experience who wants to build a rewarding career while developing hands-on skills, industry knowledge, and strong customer service capability. As part of the operations team, you will contribute to delivering innovative ag services that support our farm-member owners and strengthen profitability across the AGRIS Market.
The successful candidate will operate and support spray and airflow application services, equipment operation, regulatory compliance, and customer service while continuing to build their skills as a valued member of the Essex Hub operations team.
What will you be responsible for:
- Provide an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
- Operate farm machinery used for precision spray and airflow application across designated fields.
- Prepare, inspect, and verify calibration of application equipment using hand tools and power tools to support safe operation, accurate product delivery, and optimal performance.
- Support the team in accepting product and service orders and help coordinate timely delivery to customers.
- Maintain accurate and timely application records and associated documentation in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies are on hand to support customer purchasing. In consultation with the manager, complete inventory counts and replenish inventory as required.
- Provide general labour and operate equipment safely and efficiently inside and/or outside the facility as required.
- Complete regular safety checks of vehicles and application equipment, equipment cleaning, and required rinsing and decontamination procedures to support safe operation and preventative maintenance.
- Follow safe handling procedures for crop protection products and inputs, including proper mixing, loading, unloading, storage, spill prevention, and the use of required personal protective equipment.
- Obtain and maintain the company and regulatory licenses, permits, and certifications required to perform the role successfully.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, practice safe driving techniques, and maintain a good driving record.
- Maintain good housekeeping in and around the facility and within the assigned work area.
- Perform other tasks associated with the handling of fertilizer and grain at the co-operative.
- Understand and follow AGRIS health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including required response procedures in the event of an incident.
Requirements for this job:
- Some experience in the agriculture industry; custom application, equipment operation, or related hands-on farm experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors. Physical activity includes walking and climbing, loading/unloading trucks, inspecting equipment, driving, etc.
- Ability to work seasonal and irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours during peak application periods, planting, harvest, and weather-dependent operating windows.
- Must hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, all licenses, permits, and certifications required to perform commercial spray and airflow application work in Ontario, including applicable pesticide safety certification and applicator/operator requirements.
- Preference given to individuals with a DZ license.
