Position Title: Concrete Batch Plant Operator (Fly In - Fly Out)
We are seeking an experienced Concrete Batch Plant Operator to support our client at an Arctic fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) site. This role follows a 2-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rotation. Flights, camp accommodations, meals, and PPE are provided by the company. The position offers a pay rate of $50/hour, with overtime paid after 8 hours per day (12-hour shifts).
This is a short-term contract with an expected duration of approximately four months, with the possibility of extension. The tentative start date for this position is July 8 or July 15.
Candidates must be able to pass a medical asse ssment, criminal background check, drug and alcohol screening, and provide references.
We are looking for those individuals with a strong work ethic and a good employment track-record and a demonstrated safety record
Main Accountabilities:
- Operate and oversee the concrete batch plant to support surface mining infrastructure (foundations, pads, retaining structures, etc.)
- Produce and batch concrete in accordance with approved mix designs, ensuring consistency and quality under high-volume production demands
- Perform quality control testing (slump, air, temperature) and adjust mixes to meet site and environmental conditions
- Coordinate daily with supervisors, dispatch, and construction crews to meet pour schedules and production targets
- Monitor and manage raw material inventory, including aggregates, cement, water, and admixtures
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on plant equipment to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate batch records, production logs, and compliance documentation
- Ensure strict adherence to site safety protocols, environmental standards, and mine regulations
- Support remote and extreme-weather operations, including dust control and cold-weather concreting practices
- Maintain plant cleanliness, organization, and overall operational efficiency
- willing to do other trades like rebar / formwork
Main Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5+ years of experience operating a concrete batch plant, preferably in surface mining or heavy civil construction
- Proven experience working with automated batching systems (e.g., Command Alkon, Marcotte or similar)
- Solid understanding of concrete mix designs, material properties, and quality control testing (slump, air, temperature)
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, mix sheets, and production schedules
- Experience working in remote/FIFO environments and adapting to extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on plant equipment
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations within a mining or industrial setting
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime, in a fast-paced, high-production environment
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5 or equivalent); additional equipment certifications considered an asset
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with site crews and supervisors
