As an Intern Architect at Cascadia, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on all phases of architectural projects. You will contribute to design development, documentation, and construction coordination while working alongside experienced architects and team members. Key Qualifications
- Active enrollment or commitment to enroll as an intern architect with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC).
- A master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Previous work experience in an architectural firm is not required, but student internships or relevant work in the field is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite, is highly beneficial.
Key Duties
- Create conceptual and detailed design drawings, including 3D models and visualizations.
- Support the preparation of comprehensive construction drawings and specifications.
- Conduct detailed code analyses and prepare documentation illustrating compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Research building materials, products, and systems to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with senior architects to address technical challenges and ensure design alignment.
- Assist in presenting design concepts to clients, incorporating feedback and managing expectations.
- Participate in site visits, observe construction progress, and draft site visit reports.
- Organize and manage project documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Contribute to project management tasks, including tracking progress and identifying potential risks.
- Participate in team meetings, taking notes and contributing to discussions on design and project progress.
