Join BGC Okanagan as a Program Coordinator and bring energy, creativity, and heart to our recreation programs for kids in Vernon, BC. Recreation Program Coordinators are responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality recreation programs for children ages 7–13. Our program includes a variety of engaging activities, adventure days, and excursions throughout the Okanagan. On a day-to-day basis, Program Coordinators oversee program activities, support staff and participants, and ensure each program runs safely, smoothly, and successfully.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs.
Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans and programs designed to ensure that the needs of children, youth, and families are met.
Ensures that program standards, guidelines and policies of BGCO are maintained and that all licensing requirements are met.
Assists with the recruitment of program staff and volunteers including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, and orientation.
Authority for the day-to-day direction, performance feedback of program staff and volunteers. Addresses staff workplace issues and assists in resolving workplace disputes.
Ensures that accurate program and client records are maintained, and that confidentiality is a priority.
Responsible for the co-ordination of quality and diverse programming. Works closely with the Manager on program development, procedures, and evaluations.
Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization and program in external events.
Manages program budgets.
Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Qualifications:

Diploma in a related human/social service field
Three (3) years of recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills.
First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
Class 5 Drivers Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4

Please Note:

This position is open to all applicants

Hours: 35 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday, evenings and weekends required.

Rate of Pay: $24.69 per hour
