Okanagan Beverage Co. is a locally owned fruit and beverage processor in Coldstream, BC. We work with locally grown apples, cherries, berries and other fruit, transforming them into premium juices for our own brands and customers across Canada and beyond.
We're looking for another great person to join our production team.
This is a hands-on manufacturing position, not an assembly-line job where you do the same task all day. Depending on the production schedule, you could be operating processing equipment, pressing fruit, running a pasteurizer, packaging juice, moving product with pumps and hoses, preparing customer orders or tearing equipment apart for cleaning and sanitation.
If you're mechanically inclined, like figuring out how things work and take pride in doing a job properly, you'll probably enjoy working here.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate juice processing and packaging equipment.
- Process fruit through washing, sorting, pressing, blending and pasteurization.
- Operate bag-in-box, filling and packaging equipment.
- Work with pumps, hoses, tanks and product transfer systems.
- Perform equipment changeovers and basic troubleshooting.
- Package and inspect finished products.
- Clean and sanitize production equipment and work areas.
- Complete production and food-safety records accurately.
- Pick orders, wrap pallets and prepare products for shipping.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks once trained.
- Help keep the facility organized, clean and running efficiently.
No two production days are exactly the same.
Who We're Looking For
We're less concerned about whether you've made juice before and more interested in how you work.
You'll likely be a good fit if you:
- Show up reliably and on time.
- Like working with equipment and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
- Notice details and can tell when something doesn't look or sound right.
- Take food safety, cleanliness and quality seriously.
- Can follow procedures while still thinking for yourself.
- Ask questions and want to understand how things work.
- Work well with a small team.
- Stay productive without needing constant supervision.
- Are comfortable with physical work.
- Want to learn more and take on additional responsibility over time.
Experience That Would Be Helpful:
Experience in manufacturing, food processing, beverage production, farming, equipment operation, trades or mechanical work is an asset.
Forklift experience, FoodSafe, First Aid, WHMIS or mechanical training are also assets.
Don't have all of those? That's okay.
We can train the right person. Mechanical aptitude, reliability, attention to detail and willingness to learn matter more to us than having the perfect resume.
Physical Requirements
This is a physical production position. You must be comfortable:
- Standing and walking for most of the shift.
- Lifting up to approximately 25 kg / 55 lbs.
- Bending, reaching and performing repetitive tasks.
- Working around industrial equipment.
- Working in wet, cold and warm production environments.
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
Schedule
Our normal production schedule is Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 am–4:30 pm.
Fruit doesn't always follow our schedule, though. During peak harvest periods there may be overtime, earlier starts or occasional weekend work.
Compensation & Growth
$20.00–$26.00/hour, depending on experience and demonstrated competencies.
We believe people should be able to see a path forward.
As you become trained and capable of independently operating additional equipment and processes, there are opportunities to progress through our production wage levels and toward Senior Production Specialist / Lead Hand responsibilities.
Why Okanagan Beverage Co.?
We're a small company, which means your contribution matters.
You'll have the opportunity to learn different parts of food and beverage manufacturing rather than being limited to one station. We encourage people to identify problems, suggest improvements and develop new skills.
Our values — Sustainability, Excellence, Integrity and Community — guide how we operate and how we treat our customers, suppliers and each other.
And yes, there is a lot of juice.
