Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

manufacturing of premium equipment. Headquartered in Concord/Vaughan,
Ontario.
They are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join
Their engineering team and help shape the next generation of industrial manufacturing
machinery.
Position Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will apply advanced principles of mechanical
engineering, physics, and material science to lead the development, design, analysis, and
optimization of complex industrial machinery. This role involves taking ownership of large-scale
machinery projects—from initial concept and custom customer specifications through to
manufacturing support and final commissioning.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, PLC
technicians, the manufacturing machine shop, and our proprietary aluminum alloy foundry,
ensuring our equipment remains the most robust and innovative on the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Custom Machinery Design: Conceptualize, design, and detail heavy industrial automated machinery.
- Engineering Analysis: Conduct mechanical calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for stress, thermal management, and plastic melt-flow characteristics.
- Product Optimization: Drive continuous improvement initiatives for patented technologies.
- Technical Documentation: Create and review high-quality 3D CAD models, assembly
- drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing/fabrication schematics usingstandard geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with electrical engineers and automation/PLC
technicians to smoothly integrate mechanical designs with complex control systems.
- Manufacturing & Shop Support: Collaborate with on-site machinists, assembly
technicians, and the foundry to troubleshoot build issues, optimize designs formanufacturing (DFM), and streamline assembly.intermediate/junior engineers and ensuring engineering timelines and budgets are met.Qualifications & Experience
- Project Leadership: Act as a technical lead on major client projects, mentoring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering
- discipline. A registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation with PEO is highlydesirable.
- Experience: A minimum of 7–10+ years of progressive experience in the mechanical
design of custom industrial automation, heavy machinery, or rotating equipment.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background in plastic extrusion technology, blow
molding, vacuum forming, or heavy tooling/die manufacturing is a major asset.SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Solid Edge) and PLM/PDM data managementsystems.structural and moving machine elements.fabrication, metallurgy, and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles.Key Competencies
