Daycare Attendant — Fetching Forever (Cambie Village, Vancouver)
About us
Fetching Forever is Vancouver's premier dog daycare, grooming spa and treat shop, tucked into Cambie Village at 3080 Cambie St. We're high-touch by design: free trial days, multi-walk daycare, one-on-one grooming with no cage drying, and a tightly curated, BC-local treat lineup. We're less than 2 years in and we're already one of the most-loved spots in the city — and we're just getting started. A second location is on the horizon, and the people who build it with us are the ones on the floor right now.
That's the honest pitch: this is a growing company, not a coasting one. If you've got grit, a real work ethic and a genuinely positive attitude, there's room for you here.
What the job actually is
Let's be straight, because it saves everyone time. This is not a job where you sit on the floor and cuddle puppies all day. You'll be on your feet for most of an eight-hour shift — walking groups of dogs, managing group play, cleaning as you go, and reading the room constantly so you can spot a tense moment and defuse it before it becomes a problem. The best people here are the ones thinking two steps ahead.
You'll also be our Guest Host up front. When you're on the floor by the door, you're the face of the shop — greeting clients, answering the phone with a smile they can hear, handling intake and pickups, talking treats and grooming, and making every person feel as looked-after as their dog. We care just as much about how you are with people as how you are with dogs. Warmth, presence and great communication aren't a bonus here — they're the job.
It's genuinely fun, the dogs are the best coworkers you'll ever have, and the team is tight. But it's real work, and we're particular about who we bring on. People who thrive here tend to figure that out fast and love it.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Supervising group play and keeping every dog safe — eyes up, brain on, staying ahead of trouble
- Walking groups of up to 6 dogs in a calm, controlled way, rain or shine
- Keeping the space genuinely clean (it's one of the top reasons clients choose us — cleanliness is non-negotiable)
- Stepping in as Guest Host: welcoming clients and their dogs, answering the phone, handling intake, bookings and pickups
- Capturing photos and videos of the dogs through the day for our socials
- Talking treats and add-on services with guests, and helping hit shop targets
- Watching for any sign of illness or stress and flagging it right away
You'll do well here if you:
- Actually like people, not just dogs — you're warm, read social cues, and make clients feel looked after
- Stay calm and think clearly when a facility of over two dozen dogs get lively
- Are physically up for an active shift: lifting, walking, on your feet, outdoors in Vancouver weather
- Take ownership, show up on time, and don't need to be asked twice
- Want to grow — supervisor and specialty paths open up for people who earn them
Nice to have: retail or customer-service experience, and real knowledge of dog behaviour and body language. Strong dog sense is required; the rest we'll help you build.
