We are an award-winning organization, with 75 years under our belt, dedicated to keeping communities safe in the areas of fire prevention, security, and life safety. We currently have over 230 talented individuals across 4 business units – Richmond (our Headquarters), Calgary, Toronto and Texas.
We have been growing rapidly and show no signs of slowing down. In order to successfully scale our business and support our growth, we need to continuously invest in the training and development of our team.
To support this commitment, we are hiring a part-time, fixed-term (6-months) role: Technical Training Specialist to build sustainable training materials and programs that support our continued growth, reporting directly into our Learning & Performance Manager.
If you're energized by the idea of starting with a blank canvas, uncovering knowledge from subject matter experts, creating practical learning solutions, and seeing your work directly impact business performance, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
VALUE OF THIS ROLE
The Technical Training Specialist will be responsible for developing and delivering practical, scalable learning solutions within our Security business, starting with manufacturing.
Success in this role won't come from implementing complex enterprise learning frameworks or creating training for training's sake. Success will come from understanding how our business operates today, identifying the highest-priority learning needs, and building solutions that are appropriate for where we are in our growth journey.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys:
- Building something from the ground up.
- Learning a business by observing people in action and building strong relationships with diverse team members.
- Creating structure by translating technical processes into clear, easy-to-follow learning materials.
- Partnering with experts across departments to capture and share knowledge.
The person in this role will spend significant time with manufacturing teams, field technicians, operations leaders, subject matter experts, and new team members to understand how work gets done and identify opportunities to improve consistency, onboarding, productivity, quality, and safety.
