MacKay’s Truck & Trailer Center is growing, and we are looking for a skilled and motivated Commercial Body & Equipment Shop Technician to join our team in Truro, Nova Scotia.
MacKay’s is a well-established, family-owned business with more than 40 years of experience in the commercial vehicle industry. We operate full-line Truck, Trailer, and Compact Equipment dealerships in Truro and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

What You’ll Do
As a Commercial Body & Equipment Shop Technician, you will perform a variety of collision repair, structural repair, preparation and refinishing work on commercial vehicles and equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing structural and body repairs
- Preparing vehicles, components and surfaces for refinishing
- Performing painting and refinishing work to a high-quality standard
- Inspecting completed repairs to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met
- Following established safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organized work area
- Communicating effectively with customers and team members regarding repairs and job progress
- Working independently and collaboratively to keep work moving safely and efficiently
- Performing other related body shop duties as required
What We’re Looking For
We are interested in hearing from both experienced technicians and individuals developing their careers in the trade.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Red Seal certification in the Auto Body and Collision Technician trade, or
- Current enrollment in a recognized apprenticeship program, or
- Equivalent practical experience in auto body repair, collision repair, painting or refinishing
- Previous experience in an automotive, heavy truck, commercial vehicle or dealership environment is an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle systems
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting and handling parts and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to customer service and safety
