Position Summary

The Accountant is responsible for managing full-cycle accounting activities for a portfolio of franchisee and corporate entities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role supports daily finance operations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end processes, and special projects that contribute to the organization's overall financial success.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, resourceful, organized, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

This position will require you to:

Perform full-cycle accounting functions for multiple corporate and franchise-related entities.
Prepare and process journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Analyze financial information and investigate discrepancies.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Prepare franchise royalty and other operational reports as required.
Assist with audit preparations and year-end working papers.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
Support special projects and process improvement initiatives within the Finance department.
Provide financial support to franchise operations and other internal stakeholders.
Keep information confidential and secure.

Skills/Qualifications

Post secondary education with preference to a degree or diploma in accounting and/or work experience as an accountant with a full cycle corporate entity.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word and Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, high level of integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively.
Willingness and motivation to learn new processes and procedures
