The transmission industry is entering a period of unprecedented growth and transformation. Electrification, AI-driven data center expansion, renewable generation, energy storage, distributed energy resources, and emerging technologies such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are driving significant increases in electricity demand and changing power flow patterns across transmission networks. Utilities, system operators, and regulators are investing heavily in transmission infrastructure to address capacity constraints, improve reliability, and support the evolving needs of the grid.
As transmission systems become larger, more dynamic, and increasingly interconnected, the importance of real-time situational awareness, system security, contingency analysis, and operational decision support continues to grow. Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Transmission Management Systems (TMS) play a critical role in helping operators maintain the reliability, stability, and security of the bulk electric system.
At the same time, the market itself is evolving. New transmission owners and operators are emerging, distributed and independently operated transmission assets are becoming more common, and many traditionally distribution-focused utilities are expanding their ownership and operation of transmission infrastructure. These trends are creating opportunities to rethink how transmission management software is designed, deployed, integrated, and operated.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help Survalent define its strategy, product direction, and market approach within this rapidly evolving landscape. You will help identify what the next generation of EMS/TMS solutions should look like, influence how the company enters and competes in this market, and shape products that support the future operation of the electric grid.
