Job description:
Company Description
The Windsor Heart Institute is a respected regional leader in cardiac diagnostics and health management. Supported by fellowship-trained cardiologists and certified technical staff, the institute is dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate, and individualized care. With a focus on innovation and patient-centered practices, the Windsor Heart Institute remains committed to improving cardiovascular health outcomes.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Windsor, ON, for a Human Resources Manager.
We are looking for a commercially minded, relationship-driven leader to build and own the business development function at WHI. This is a ground-floor role: you will define the strategy, build the systems, and execute against growth targets and metrics across our existing and future segments. You will work directly with the physician owners and integrate into our EOS/Traction operating cadence from day one.
The responsibilities include managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training programs, employee morale, recordkeeping and, health & safety compliance. The HR Manager will also oversee compliance with labor regulations, develop HR policies and procedures, and ensure a healthy & inclusive workplace culture. The role fosters strategic collaboration with leadership to enhance organizational growth and workforce engagement.
What You Will Own
Culture & Engagement
- Steward WHI's culture — articulating values, reinforcing behaviours, and holding the organization accountable to them
- Design and execute employee engagement programs across all sites
- Build recognition and retention frameworks that reflect WHI's identity as a physician-led, patient-centred organization
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Own end-to-end recruitment for all roles : from job architecture and sourcing to offer and close
- Design and continuously improve onboarding programs that embed new hires quickly and effectively into WHI's culture and systems. Work with leads to design replicatable protocols and onboarding systems
Performance Management
- Build and maintain a performance management framework aligned to EOS accountability principles
- Support managers in having regular, structured performance conversations — not just annual reviews
- Partner with the Integrator and leadership team on performance issues, PIPs, and talent decisions
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters : handling concerns, investigations, and conflict resolution with discretion and professionalism
- Ensure WHI's HR practices comply fully with Ontario's Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, OHSA, and applicable healthcare regulations
- Manage terminations, severance, and off-boarding in partnership with employment counsel
HR Infrastructure Development
- Build the foundational HR infrastructure : policies, handbooks, job architecture and HRIS selection
- Establish HR metrics and people analytics that inform leadership decisions (turnover, time-to-fill, engagement scores, absenteeism)
- Create scalable systems that can support organizations growth
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership HR role
- Experience in a multi-site or distributed workforce environment. Healthcare experience is a meaningful asset but not required
- Applicants demonstrated experience in an EOS/Traction environment, or strong familiarity with EOS principles and structure will have an advantage
- Someone who has a thirst continuous learning - tell us what you read recently.
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment law : ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA, and healthcare-specific obligations
- Track record of building HR infrastructure in a growing organization, not just maintaining it in a mature one
- A builder's mindset : you are comfortable starting from scratch, setting priorities, and delivering without a large team behind you
- Exceptional interpersonal skills : you can navigate physician personalities, administrative staff, and everything in between
- CHRP or CHRL designation preferred
Experience working within or alongside an EOS/Traction-run organization is a meaningful asset. Candidates who understand Rocks, the accountability chart, and the EOS People Analyzer will integrate faster and contribute more immediately.
