About CRIBE
CRIBE (Centre for Research and Innovation in the Bioeconomy) is Ontario’s leading forest-based innovation accelerator. As an independent, non-profit organization based in Thunder Bay, CRIBE is dedicated to supporting and developing a sustainable, profitable provincial forest bioeconomy. CRIBE connects industry, researchers, government, and end users to create and commercialize innovative, low-carbon, forest-based solutions.
Position Overview
We're looking for a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to join the CRIBE team.
While our work is rooted in the forest bioeconomy, we don't expect our Communications Coordinator to arrive with sector expertise. We're looking for someone who is curious, keen to grow in a communications role, and excited by the idea of working at the intersection of innovation, environment, and industry.
In this role, you'll maintain our brand identity (including CRIBE and its initiative, Nextfor), support external and internal messaging, and help grow public engagement across our channels. You'll balance creative and analytical work — from copywriting and social media to campaign reporting and event support.
This position is full-time and strong preference will be given to candidates living in Thunder Bay. The anticipated start date is dependent on the successful candidate’s availability.
Key responsibilities include:
Content Creation & Copywriting
- Write, edit, and proofread engaging copy for a variety of channels, including website copy, blog posts, email newsletters, brochures, and press releases.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, maintains a consistent tone, and reaches the intended audience effectively.
Digital & Social Media Management
- Develop and maintain a social media calendar that supports the organization's strategic goals and keeps audiences engaged across platforms.
- Support the development and implementation of CRIBE's broader communications strategy.
- Collaborate with partners on joint communications initiatives as required.
Campaign Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor and analyze the performance of communications and marketing campaigns.
- Utilize analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) to compile performance reports (quarterly).
- Research emerging industry trends and make data-driven recommendations to improve communication strategies.
Event & Project Coordination
- Assist in the planning and execution of events, press conferences, webinars, and public outreach activities.
- Coordinate logistics, vendors, and internal staff to ensure successful event execution (as required).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in a communications or marketing role preferred.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, or a related field, is an asset.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels.
- Experience with digital platforms such as WordPress and Mailchimp, and design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter who can take a brief or idea and independently produce publish-ready content.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with internal staff and external partners.
Why Work at CRIBE?
At CRIBE, we offer an innovative, fast-paced, and collaborative work environment. As a diverse and dynamic organization, we encourage continuous learning and professional development. By joining our team, you would be contributing to the implementation of sustainable, low-carbon initiatives and playing a role in influencing Ontario’s forest bioeconomy.
In addition to a dynamic work environment, the successful candidate will receive:
- Three weeks (15 days) of vacation prorated, plus five additional days during the Christmas holiday season.
- Access to health benefits, if eligible.
- Access to the Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP).
- Salary ranging from $65,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will receive a full-time contract until March 31, 2028, with the potential for extension.
