Triple Eight Transport Inc. is growing and is in search for a proven strong communicator with proven relationship or team building skills to join our dynamic team!
The Highway Dispatcher is responsible for building and maintaining strong business relationships with multiple drivers to seamlessly coordinate them to successfully service customer loads. Ensure to maximize equipment and driver utilization while communicating effectively and efficiently both internally and externally to achieve high levels of service.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Dispatch Operations & Utilization
- Own and manage all aspects of the assigned desk.
- Monitor active loads, PTAs, and driver HOS to achieve utilization and mileage targets (KPIs).
- Work with Maintenance to schedule inspections and PMs with minimal impact on operations.
- Track and monitor temperature-sensitive loads.
- Communicate breakdowns, operational issues, and potential delays promptly to relevant teams.
- Ensure customs documentation is submitted accurately and on time.
2. Service Execution & Customer Communication
- Review driver plans prior to dispatch to ensure feasibility; collaborate with planners if adjustments are needed.
- Dispatch drivers with complete load information, customer requirements, permits, and instructions.
- Monitor delivery schedules and communicate potential service failures to Customer Service, After Hours, and Operations Manager.
- Support drivers with directions, trip planning, and operational inquiries.
3. Driver Coordination & Support
- Document driver performance in TMW; provide feedback or follow-up safety/disciplinary actions as required.
- Forward driver’s day-off requests to Dispatch Manager and ensure consistent records are maintained.
- Build strong working relationships with drivers and resolve conflicts constructively.
- Coach drivers to meet mileage, utilization, and service objectives.
4. Escalation & Weekend Coverage
- Escalate operational issues to Dispatch Manager as needed.
- Collaborate with After Hours Operations Team Lead and Weekend Dispatcher for any coverage coordination.
Qualifications:
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proven team player with ability to align position goals with corporate strategic goals
- Prove strength in communication and relation building
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dispatch or planning role will be an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience would be an asset
- Some post-secondary education is an asset
- Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada
