The Opportunity
We are seeking a Plant Operations Manager to lead a dynamic manufacturing facility located in Summerside, PE. Reporting directly to the President, this role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations including production, inventory, procurement, safety, quality, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a key leadership position focused on driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, and supporting scalable growth. The successful candidate will bring a hands-on approach to leadership, a strong foundation in manufacturing operations, and a passion for process improvement and innovation.
The organization is actively investing in modernization and is exploring opportunities to integrate automation, data-driven decision-making, and emerging technologies (including AI where applicable) to enhance productivity, quality, and responsiveness. This role will play a key part in identifying and implementing these improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all plant operations including production, maintenance, safety, quality, and operational planning
- Drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across manufacturing systems, processes, and workflows
- Oversee capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance
- Develop and track KPIs related to output, cost, scrap, yield, and overall efficiency
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to optimize inventory levels, forecasting, and material flow
- Work with Engineering and Sales to align production planning with demand and capacity
- Partner with Procurement to strengthen supplier relationships and replenishment strategies
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve output
- Manage plant budgets, contribute to annual budgeting, and support CAPEX planning
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, internal procedures, and safety regulations
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team with a focus on engagement and succession planning
- Oversee training programs related to equipment, processes, and quality standards
- Support the adoption of new technologies to improve manufacturing performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (asset)
- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
- Strong experience in plant or production operations within a high-volume environment
- Lean Manufacturing experience (Green Belt certification considered a strong asset)
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements
- Previous P&L responsibility considered an asset
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Experience with production systems, materials management, and manufacturing workflows (MRP, scheduling, quality systems, etc.)
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Interest in technology, automation, and data-driven manufacturing improvement

- Competitive base salary ($100,000 – $110,000)
