About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAM Operator to join our growing dental laboratory team. This role is responsible for executing and supporting digital manufacturing workflows within the CAM Department, with a primary focus on milling and/or 3D printing operations, CAM file processing, equipment operation, and quality assurance. The CAM Operator works cross-functionally with Design, Order Desk, Quality Control, and Production teams to ensure accurate, timely, and repeatable manufacturing output in accordance with Aurum standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate, review, modify, and release CAM outputs, including G-code and print jobs, for milling and/or 3D printing cases.
- Process crown, model, multi-unit, and denture-related cases while following daily production and rush priorities.
- Validate material selection, disc dimensions, shade designation, orientation, and nesting strategy prior to release.
- Operate and monitor CAM production equipment, including milling machines, 3D printers, post-processing and curing systems, furnaces, and denture bonding equipment.
- Monitor machine behaviour during production and intervene when abnormalities or failures are detected.
- Perform routine cleaning, basic setup, and operational checks to maintain production continuity.
- Inspect CAM outputs and completed restorations for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and quality.
- Identify and document common production concerns, such as incomplete cavities, broken sprues, tool failures, Z-axis errors, bonding defects, or curing inconsistencies.
- Communicate with Order Desk, Design, Implant, Quality Control, and Production teams to clarify case requirements, timelines, and file locations.
- Coordinate responses to rush cases and production inquiries.
- Follow established CAM workflows, naming conventions, curing programs, processing standards, and laboratory quality procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Denture Bonding & Post-Processing
- Perform tooth placement and bonding to printed or milled denture bases.
- Verify fit, alignment, occlusion reference, and esthetic positioning prior to final bonding.
- Apply bonding materials, curing cycles, and finishing steps according to approved procedures.
- Inspect bonded dentures for defects and collaborate with Quality Control and Production teams to address reworks or corrections.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and material integrity within the denture bonding area.
Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC, milling, manufacturing, or production equipment is an asset.
- Prior CAM, milling, 3D printing, or digital manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Experience in a dental laboratory, dental CAD/CAM workflow, denture production, bonding, or dental lab finishing process is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and quality in technical and production environments.
- Ability to work under time-sensitive, high-volume conditions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical coordination.
- Comfort working with CAM software, digital files, production equipment, and hands-on denture bonding tasks.
- Manual dexterity and precision for bonding, trimming, and inspection activities.
- Basic computer skills and comfort learning new software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and dependable with excellent attendance.
