This position is paid according to a unionized collective bargaining agreement (CBA) wage grid. Successful candidates start at $21.90/hour, increase to $23.00/hour after completing Year 1 requirements, and reach $24.10/hour in Year 2, based on the established hours and progression steps in the agreement.
Contract End Date: March 31, 2028 (HART Hub) or March 31 2027 (Gateway)

Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker, under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor, will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks, including installing, repairing, and maintaining building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components in residential settings. This role requires a solid understanding of general maintenance practices, basic construction processes, and safety procedures to ensure efficient and reliable operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching, and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
- Perform painting, carpentry, masonry work, electrical work, dry walling
- Responsible for assuring all tools and equipment used are in good and safe working order
- General interior and exterior improvements and small construction/renovation projects
- Preventative facility maintenance and inspections as needed
- Perform minor repairs as needed and install office equipment, furniture, decorative items and light fixtures
- Maintain daily appointments and scheduling of maintenance/repair projects
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions
- Review and prepare all documents, reports, and other correspondence materials
- Organize and perform the cleaning and maintenance of “community” areas and buildings and grounds
- Assist in coordinating licensed inspections as required
- Identify and recommend methods and schedules for maintenance to management and coordinate major maintenance and repairs as required
- When authorized, order materials needed and maintain required documentation
- Conduct onsite annual inspections of owned and managed units
- This position reflects general duties and may include other tasks as required, but is not a complete list of all responsibilities
Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Certified licensed Plumber is an asset
- Minimum of one-year experience maintenance and renovations
- Physically able to perform all assigned tasks, must be able to lift, bend, push, pull, walk, climb and sit for extended periods
- A valid G drivers’ license with a reliable vehicle and permission to carry rider attached with 2-million-dollar liability
- CPR First Aid Level C + AED is an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is an asset
- Availability to work some weekends
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots
- Good organizational, problem solving, time management and prioritizing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with good oral and written skills
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Outlook Calendar
- Understand and work within a person-centered approach, maintaining political and cultural sensitivity
- Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff and client privacy
- Demonstrated ability to function within and contribute to a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Bi-lingual in both French and English is an asset
Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements:

Work Conditions
- Duties may be carried out both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions
- Physical activity, including lifting heavy materials, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined or awkward spaces

- Handling of tools, machinery, and potentially hazardous materials
