Position Summary
FBT Inc. is seeking experienced CNC Machinists with hands-on CNC set-up and operating experience. This is not an operator-only position; candidates must be capable of independently setting up CNC equipment, operating machines, making adjustments, and inspecting their work.
We are interested in candidates with experience on CNC mills and/or CNC lathes, including 3-axis, 5-axis and mill-turn equipment.

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications.
- Identify, select and prepare tooling, fixtures and work holding required for production.
- Read and understand G-code and M-code and make necessary edits or adjustments to existing CNC programs.
- Set and adjust tooling, offsets, speeds, feeds and other machine parameters as required.
- Identify out-of-tolerance conditions, troubleshoot machining issues and make appropriate corrections.
- Perform first-off and in-process inspections.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
- Read and interpret CMM reports.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional requirements are met.
- Complete required production documentation.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including coolant, lubrication and cleaning.
- Follow all health and safety requirements and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency, quality and processes.
Qualifications
- Previous hands-on CNC machining experience, including independent machine set-up.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, or both.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong working knowledge of G-code and M-code, including the ability to understand and edit existing programs.
- Experience selecting tooling and making offsets and machine adjustments.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with Mazak, Heidenhain, Okuma, DMG, 5-axis machining or mill-turn equipment is considered an asset.
Schedule
Shop floor employees work a weekly rotation between day shift and afternoon shift:
- Day Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
- Afternoon Shift: Monday -Thursday, 2:25 p.m.-12:35 a.m. (four 10-hour paid shifts)
Candidates must be available to work both shifts on the weekly rotation.
