Why Redlen Technologies?
Redlen Technologies is a pioneering company that has revolutionized the semiconductor crystal growth and fabrication process.
At Redlen Technologies, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Our founder's visionary work with the Canadian Space Agency laid the foundation for our groundbreaking Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) sensors, revolutionizing medical imaging, security imaging, and non-destructive testing. We are driving a quantum leap forward in medical CT scanners, elevating diagnostic accuracy while reducing radiation dose– a technological feat that has earned us global recognition. With a commitment to excellence, we have earned the trust of Fortune 500 industry customers, leading to our acquisition by Canon Inc. for $430M– a testament to our industry leadership.
With over 200 dedicated professionals, we take pride in fostering a work environment where Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) professionals thrive. As an equal opportunity employer we demonstrate that diversity drives innovation, and we are passionate about building a future where every employee contributes to our mission-driven success. Redlen's teams, mirroring the multifaceted diversity of Canadian society, exemplify our commitment to leveraging a wide range of ideas and backgrounds as a driving force for innovation, business excellence, and pioneering advancements in STEM.
Manager, Planning and Scheduling
The Manager, Planning & Scheduling is responsible for Redlen’s end-to-end production planning performance and delivery execution. This role translates demand into an executable build plan and ensures delivery commitments are aligned with factory capacity, materials, and constraints. This role is part of the broader Operations team and works cross-functionally across Operations, Business Development, and Engineering to align plans, manage risk, and drive execution. The role also leads a team of schedulers and material coordinators, ensuring strong coverage, capability, and ownership across the function.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Order Acceptance & Demand Planning
- Translate long-term customer demand and internal forecasts into a consolidated build plan aligned to factory capacity, materials, and constraints.
- Develop and maintain a forward-looking production plan that establishes clear delivery timelines and supports customer commitments.
- Validate incoming customer orders against the build plan and available capacity, confirming delivery dates and identifying any risks to commitments.
- Identify constraints, gaps, or risks to delivery and escalate as needed, driving resolution through cross-functional collaboration.
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain integrated short-, mid-, and long-term production plans across crystal growth, wafer fabrication, assembly, and test.
- Own the master build plan, ensuring alignment between demand, factory capability, and execution priorities.
- Drive performance of WIP levels, cycle time, throughput, and schedule adherence, adjusting plans as needed to maintain delivery commitments.
Capacity & Constraint Management
- Maintain visibility of factory capacity constraints (tools, labor, materials, and equipment) and ensure plans reflect realistic production capability.
- Provide clear, proactive visibility to leadership on constraints that may block production, including capital limitations and manpower gaps.
- Develop and drive mitigation strategies to address constraints, clearly communicating impacts to delivery commitments and operational risk.
- Ensure alignment of planning with capacity ramp-ups, new product introductions, technology nodes, and tool qualification timelines.
- Provide planning inputs to Production Managers for staffing and shift coverage decisions.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the primary planning interface across Operations, Business Development, and Engineering.
- Own planning-related system and process requirements, partnering with the business owner and IT/development to ensure solutions meet operational needs.
- Lead clear and proactive communication of schedule changes, risks, and escalations in cross-functional forums.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of schedulers and material coordinators, with clear ownership for performance, engagement, and capability development.
- Establish and reinforce cross-training and succession planning to ensure resilient coverage across shifts and functions.
- Promote structured processes, data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and ownership of commitments.
Education
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience
- 8+ years of direct experience in production planning, scheduling, or operations management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience from semiconductor or other complex manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience managing long cycle times and multi-step manufacturing flows.
- Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong understanding of semiconductor or advanced manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with MES, ERP/MRP, planning tools, and Jira workflows.
- Advanced analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, SQL, and/or data visualization tools.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated capability to work in ambiguous, dynamic, high-mix production environments.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments is preferred.
