Mara foodliner is a local one-stop shop for fresh fruit, baked goods, local products, ice-cream, gas, fireworks, and a full liquor store.
Mara Foodliner in Mara, BC looking for one energetic individual as a Retail Store Manager for our site located 7702 BC-97A, Mara, BC V0E 2K0. Position is full time with 8 hours a day/35-40 hour a week Its located in the community of Mara with permanent settlement of 150 people (Rural Area). Our store offers a complete grocery shopping experience, including fresh produce, dairy, frozen foods, household essentials, a licensed liquor store, an in-house bakery, and a feed house. We take pride in providing exceptional customer service, quality products, and a welcoming shopping environment for residents, farmers, ranchers, seasonal visitors, and tourists.
Duties
As Retail Store Manager, you will be responsible for leading the overall operation of our store and ensuring every department runs smoothly each day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing leadership and direction to our team while creating a positive workplace where employees feel supported, motivated and accountable.
- Managing the daily operations of the store, including the liquor store,bakery and feed house, ensuring every department is well organized, adequately staffed and ready to serve customers.
- Hiring, training, coaching and mentoring employees, while helping them build their skills and succeed in their roles.
- Preparing staff schedules, monitoring productivity and ensuring adequate staffing levels during busy and seasonal periods.
- Working closely with department supervisors to maintain high standards of customer service, merchandising, cleanliness and product quality throughout the store.
- Monitoring inventory levels, coordinating product orders and working with suppliers to ensure products remain available while minimizing waste and shortages.
- Identifying opportunities to increase sales through attractive merchandising, seasonal promotions, local marketing initiatives and new product offerings.
- Reviewing sales reports, labour costs and operating expenses, and making informed decisions to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Handling customer concerns professionally and resolving issues in a timely manner to maintain a positive shopping experience.
- Ensuring the store operates in compliance with food safety regulations, liquor licensing requirements, workplace safety standards and company policies.
- Overseeing cash handling procedures, inventory accuracy and loss prevention practices to protect company assets.
- Coordinating maintenance of store equipment and facilities to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for customers and staff. Informing head office with maintenance issues.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers, local vendors and community partners to support the continued growth of the business.
- Working closely with District Manager and Head office staff to ensure timely filling of GST, PST and other tax remittances.
- Looking for ways to improve store operations, streamline processes and strengthen the overall customer experience.
- Plan budgets and keep track of revenues and expenditures
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Commerce or a related field is considered an asset.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience in Retail Industry, preferably in a grocery store, supermarket or other large-format retail environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple departments and achieve operational and financial goals.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with inventory management tools, spreadsheets, budgeting, scheduling, purchasing and retail point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English effectively. Basic math skills to handle cash, complete financial reports
