Position Summary
All members of the Builders Choice team will demonstrate respect and ethical conduct, will work safely, provide excellent customer service, and will work with the team to support superior performance in the achievement of both individual and company goals.
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the branch has adequate stock to maintain effective customer service. This position will issue purchase orders, work with the team receiving shipments, and is responsible for ensuring there is proper inventory integrity. There is a sales element to this position whereby the position will help answer phones and serve customers at the inside sales order desk.
Key Responsibilities
- Understands and ensures consistent compliance with company policy, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Verifies shipments by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers.
- Administers the management and control of documentation (i.e., order, delivery, customer)
- Performs inventory counts and calculates inventory cycle turnover on a regular basis.
- Uses reports to facilitate proper stock levels and makes recommendations to the Branch Manager on stock levels.
- Assist in completing cost changes by identifying the materials in the supplier list and their respective costs in conjunction with the Branch Manager.
- Purchases and maintains warehouse inventory in conjunction with management to meet inventory and fill-rate goals.
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Communicate with vendors about the new purchasing programs and promotions.
- Act as a backup to the sales team.
- Produce quality work and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
As a member of the Builders Choice team, employees may be requested to contribute to duties outside of the role’s main scope of responsibilities as per required qualifications, licensing, and safety certifications.
Skills & Qualifications
- GED (Grade 12); education in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar field preferred.
- Previous experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or a related field would be considered an asset.

- Provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated attention to detail by providing accurate and timely information
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills to persuade others
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team but also work alone unsupervised
