Intermediate Building Envelope Engineer

Location: Calgary or Edmonton

Wade Consulting Inc. (WADE) offers expertise in building envelope engineering, structural engineering, and roof consulting. We work collaboratively with owners, developers, architects, and builders to design new buildings, assess existing buildings, and make rehabilitation that ensures long-term value and durability for our clients while meeting the performance requirements of our constantly evolving building codes.

The Opportunity

WADE is looking for an Intermediate Building Envelope Engineer to join our growing team in either Calgary or Edmonton. The people who make up the WADE team are the core of our business - dedicated, engaged team members who are driven to solve problems and identify solutions for our clients. Key Responsibilities

Conduct and assist with building envelope condition assessments and targeted investigations
Liaise with clients, contractors, and sub-consultants at all stages of the project
Prepare engineering documents, schedules, or reports
Prepare plan drawings, contracts, and technical specifications
Perform project document reviews (drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, etc.)
Interpret and analyze field review data to evaluate and make recommendations
Lead pre-bid meetings and construction kick-off meetings
Perform field performance testing (water penetration, air leakage, thermography etc.)
Perform field reviews and manage deficiency lists
Project coordination for small and large projects
Conduct contract administration tasks
Prepare and assist with proposals and project financial budgets

Education and Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 7 years engineering experience is preferred
Understanding of design and drafting practices for building envelope components
Experience with preparing and reviewing technical specifications.
Experience in Building Envelope Rehabilitation projects is an asset.
Effective organizational and time management skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deliverable-based environment
Comfortable dealing with clients and contractors on an as-needed basis.
Readily able to assume responsibility, work independently, and be a team player.
Inquisitive, clear thinker who can determine what is required and draw rational conclusions from the information available.
Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time.
