About ServiceMaster Restore of Red Deer:
ServiceMaster Restore of Red Deer is a locally owned and operated disaster restoration company serving Central Alberta since 2002. We provide emergency mitigation, restoration, environmental services, and reconstruction for residential, commercial, and institutional clients.
We are looking for an experienced, highly organized Lead Estimator to become a key part of our Project Management and Reconstruction team.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in Xactimate, insurance restoration, construction estimating, construction management, or project coordination who enjoys building accurate estimates, managing deadlines, and keeping projects moving.
The Role:
The Lead Estimator will be responsible for taking scopes provided by our Project Managers and turning them into complete, accurate, profitable, and carrier-compliant estimates.
This position will serve as the central estimating resource for our Project Management team and will also help manage estimating-related KPIs, file timelines, reconstruction scopes, work orders, and project documentation.
The goal is simple:
Help our Project Managers move files faster, produce better estimates, protect company margins, and consistently exceed client and insurance carrier expectations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Estimating
- Prepare detailed restoration and reconstruction estimates using Xactimate
- Receive scopes, photographs, measurements, DocuSketch/Encircle information, and supporting documentation from Project Managers
- Convert field scopes into accurate and complete estimates
- Ensure estimates meet individual insurance carrier and program requirements
- Maintain appropriate labour, material, equipment, overhead, and profit margins
- Review estimates for missed scope, incorrect quantities, pricing issues, and profitability concerns
- Prepare estimate revisions and supplements when required
- Work with Project Managers to resolve scope discrepancies before estimates are submitted
- Maintain consistency in estimating practices across all company projects
- Assist with both emergency mitigation and reconstruction estimates as required
KPI & Timeline Management:
A major component of this position will be ensuring estimating and file-management deadlines are consistently met.
Responsibilities include:
- Track estimating deadlines across active projects
- Monitor outstanding scopes, estimates, revisions, supplements, and approvals
- Ensure carrier and program-specific KPI requirements are being followed
- Identify files at risk of missing deadlines and take action before they become overdue
- Follow up with Project Managers when additional information is required
- Help establish accountability around estimate completion and file progression
- Assist management in reviewing estimating performance, turnaround times, margins, and estimate accuracy
- Look for opportunities to improve estimating systems and workflow efficiency
Meeting KPI timelines is the expectation. Exceeding them is the goal.
Project Manager Support:
While estimating will be the primary responsibility, the Lead Estimator will also support Project Managers when required.
This may include:
- Attending properties to take measurements
- Completing site scopes
- Reviewing losses with Project Managers
- Completing additional documentation or photographs
- Assisting with complex or large-loss scopes
- Communicating with adjusters, insurance representatives, trades, and clients when appropriate
- Helping Project Managers move stalled files forward
- Providing additional operational support during periods of high claim volume
Reconstruction Support:
The Lead Estimator will also help strengthen our reconstruction process by assisting with:
- Detailed reconstruction scopes
- Trade scopes and work orders
- Material and labour requirements
- Subtrade quote review
- Scope comparisons
- Change orders and supplements
- Reconstruction documentation
- Estimate-to-production handoff
- Identifying scope gaps before construction begins
- Ensuring estimated margins are maintained throughout the project
