Spotless Uniform is a fast growing, 5th generation, 100% Canadian family-owned company, based out of Prince George B.C., providing uniform rental, entrance mats service, and commercial laundry services throughout BC and Alberta.
We are excited to welcome an experienced and forward-thinking finance professional to our Prince George Corporate Office as Controller, where they will play an important role in supporting our team and the continued growth of the organization.
The Controller will be responsible for assisting in various financial activities, including but not limited to payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, financial reporting, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of financial principles, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Job Summary:
Spotless Uniform Ltd. is seeking a Controller who will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions of the organization. This role ensures the integrity of financial information, supports strategic decision-making, and safeguards company assets through strong financial governance.
The Controller plays a key leadership role within the organization, providing financial leadership and insight to senior management and supporting the operational and strategic objectives of the business. The role requires a strong understanding of both accounting and business operations, with a focus on financial integrity, profitability, cash flow, risk management, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reporting
- Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and audit requirements
- Coordinate and lead external audits and liaise with auditors
- Monitor financial risks and implement mitigation strategies
Financial Planning & Analysis Support
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support profitability, pricing, labour utilization, productivity, and cost management.
- Analyze financial risks, and operational trends and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and profitability
- Partner with operational leaders to establish and monitor financial and operational KPIs
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to support business decision-making
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Prepare and maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasts
- Monitor accounts receivable, collections, payables,
- Manage banking relationships and financing arrangements
- Ensure appropriate working capital management
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability
- Foster a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Systems & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, workflows, and reporting tools
- Lead or support ERP implementations and upgrades
- Drive automation and efficiency initiatives within the finance function
Decision-Making Authority
- Develop, recommend, implement, and maintain accounting policies and financial procedures, subject to senior management approval where required
- Oversight of financial reporting outputs and disclosures
- Recommendations on financial strategy, cost control, and risk mitigation
- Authority and accountability for the day-to-day management of accounting operations and the accounting team
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation (required)
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- 3–5+ years in a leadership role
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting software
- Advanced Excel/financial modelling skills
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations
- Experience in a privately held or multi-location organization would be an asset
