About Us
The Prince Albert Swim Club runs a competitive and development-focused swim program dedicated to fostering athletic excellence, teamwork, and personal growth. We serve approximately 180 swimmers of all levels, from beginners to advanced competitors, and emphasize technique, sportsmanship, and a positive team culture. The club has experienced significant growth over the past few years and we are continuing to build on that momentum. We are fortunate to train at the new Lake Country Leisure Centre.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Swim Coach to support our Head Coach in planning and conducting swim practices, assisting at competitions, and mentoring athletes and development coaches. The ideal candidate is passionate about swimming, knowledgeable about stroke technique, committed to helping swimmers reach their full potential and has strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
● Assist in planning and conducting swim practices for development age groups and skill levels
● Oversee and communicate program goals and criteria to development coaches
● Provide technical instruction on all four competitive strokes, starts, and turns
● Support swimmers during meets and competitions
● Help track athlete progress and provide constructive feedback
● Promote a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment
● Ensure athlete safety and follow all pool and organizational policies
● Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and coaching staff
Qualifications and Requirements
● Level 101 Swim Coach Certification
● Demonstrated desire to attain Level 201 would be an asset
● Competitive swimming and/or prior coaching experience preferred
● Knowledge of swim training techniques and stroke development
● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
● Ability to travel for meets and work flexible hours, including evenings,
week-ends and occasional early mornings.
Hours and Compensation
● On average 24 hours week (includes practices, administration time and meets)
● $25 - $30/hr (depending on qualifications)
