Position Summary
The Meath Park Early Learning Cooperative is seeking caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educators to join our team. Early Childhood Educators are responsible for providing high-quality care and early learning experiences for children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years.
Educators will support children’s physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and creative development in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. The successful candidates will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, fellow educators, families, and community partners to help build a positive and welcoming childcare program for rural families.
Key ResponsibilitiesChild Care and Supervision
Early Childhood Educators will:
- Provide safe, attentive, and nurturing care for all children.
- Actively supervise children indoors, outdoors, during meals, rest time, transitions, and field trips.
- Support children with daily routines, including toileting, diapering, handwashing, dressing, eating, and rest.
- Respond to children’s individual needs with patience, kindness, and respect.
- Promote positive behaviour guidance using developmentally appropriate strategies.
Programming and Early Learning
Educators will:
- Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities that support children’s learning and development.
- Encourage play-based learning, creativity, independence, problem-solving, and social skills.
- Support the centre’s daily schedule while remaining flexible to children’s needs and interests.
- Create a warm and engaging environment that reflects the children, families, and community.
- Assist with documentation of children’s learning, growth, and daily experiences.
Health, Safety, and Well-Being
Educators will:
- Follow all centre policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
- Follow proper procedures for illness, injury, medication, allergies, and emergency situations.
- Ensure toys, equipment, and materials are cleaned and sanitized as required.
- Support children’s emotional well-being and help create a sense of belonging.
Communication and Teamwork
Educators will:
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, staff, and the Executive Director.
- Share relevant information with families about their child’s day, routines, and well-being.
- Work as part of a team to maintain a positive and supportive workplace.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and centre operations.
Qualifications
The successful applicant should have:
- Early Childhood Education Level I, II, or III certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience working with young children is considered an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR-C certification, or willingness to obtain.
- A valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Knowledge of child development and play-based learning.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- A caring, patient, dependable, and professional attitude.

Working Conditions
- Full-time, part-time, and casual positions may be available.
- The centre operates Monday to Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Shifts may vary based on the needs of the centre.
- The role requires standing, sitting on the floor, lifting children, bending, cleaning, and active supervision indoors and outdoors.
Reporting Relationship
Early Childhood Educators report directly to the Executive Director of the Meath Park Early Learning Cooperative.
Compensation
Wages will be based on education level, experience, and the centre’s approved wage scale. Eligible employees may also have access to health benefits and pension options.
Pay: $15.85-$33.34 per hour
